Baby Whisperers was co-founded by two experienced pediatric nurses. Kayla Loschky ventured into private baby nursing and quickly realized that the process for families and nurses is a mess! When discussing with Jeri Ford, they realized this process could be mainstreamed, improved, and standardized. They also realized there were no other agencies that placed real Registered Nurses with families with newborns. Although there are a lot of newborn caregivers available for hire, we firmly believe Registered Nurses are the best to hire for the first few weeks to months of a newborn’s life. Nurses have experience assessing newborns, teaching safe evidence-based newborn care, and have great time management skills to help support the family during the newborn phase. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning your own business will always have its own challenges. At the beginning of the pandemic, we have seen somewhat of a setback with the families not wanting additional people, especially healthcare workers, into their home to limit their exposure to the virus. We also had some clients who were able to spend more time at home so their need for additional support was limited. Now that we have learned to navigate living with this virus and more of the population is vaccinated, we are starting to see more families reaching out for additional support for their babies.
We’ve been impressed with Baby Whisperers, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are very excited to be the only Registered Nurse private baby nurse matching agency. Oftentimes parents leave the hospital exhausted and overwhelmed. As nurses, we are skilled in educating parents and putting them at ease when caring for their child. We bring our unique skill set from the hospital to individual homes while instilling confidence in parents to help them during this exciting yet stressful transition in life. We not only provide exceptional care to the newborn, but we educate the family on newborn care so they are empowered in their parenting journey.
How do you define success?
Success can be very objective but we believe it is when you are able to do what you love while making an impact on those around you!
