Exploring Life & Business with Kristina Winslow of Art of Strategy Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Winslow.

Hi Kristina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Having a grandfather and Father who are both entrepreneurs, I was introduced early to the world of business. I started working originally in college textbook publishing but decided in 2000 that I wanted to own my own business. Throughout the years, I have had several companies and now started Art of Strategy Consulting in 2013. We are coming up on a 1o year anniversary and it’s exciting. Although we have clients all over the United States, we love being in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and partnering with businesses to help them achieve success in marketing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a business owner, I started with a lot of knowledge in my industry but had a steep education in how to own and run a business with employees. My father, having owned and sold several businesses has been mentoring me and that along with 23 years of experience has taught me a lot about the dos and don’ts of small businesses. Also, we have had a major recession, a pandemic, and now another looming recession, and have survived through it all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a boutique marketing firm with deep roots in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market. We cut our teeth working for a major development company in residential real estate but quickly spread our wings and expanded our reach. We have worked for all sizes of companies and are most proud of our ability to define strategies that help our clients achieve their goals. We offer clients a solid foundation of strategic thought about how to tackle their unique issues and then back it up with actionable work to achieve that goal.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Understanding the mechanics of running a business is just as important as what your passion is about. You will spend just as much time, working on the details of finance, sales, project management, and managing people as you do producing the work you love.
