Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Butler II. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Brad Butler II is the CEO and founder of Brad Butler II & Associates LLC. He is also an award-winning motivational speaker, author, student advocate, and speaker coach. Before brad became all he is today, he spent many of his years fighting to overcome adversity. His life involved struggles with family substance abuse, academic struggles, and countless amounts of naysayers. Despite everything, brad managed to find solace in sports like football. His moments on the field are what inspired his close friends and family to coin the nickname b-rad. At the tender age of eight, brad experienced an unexpected transition that changed the course of his life forever!
Due to his parent’s decision to separate he was forced to relocate from the inner city of Jersey City to the suburban area of east Windsor as a result of this sudden change brad found himself placed in special ed classes. During this challenging time it was through playing the game of football that he built muscle, gained stamina, and developed character from elementary school all the way to college brad continued his athletic career. Which he believes contributed significantly to his academic success. Brad is beyond proud to say he holds a master’s in counseling.
Brad discovered his passion for speaking, which birthed his personal brand b-rad inspires. Over the years, brad has spent most of his time traveling to speak at various schools to increase graduation rates for both students and athletes. His primary focus is to help individuals recognize their gifts, put forth their best effort, and take advantage of their opportunities despite what life throws at them. Each day he lives motivated by his very own motto:
“Make your next day, your best day.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, where I come from most people want to be in the NBA, NFL, or a Rapper. Nobody wants to be a motivational speaker lol.
I never had a lot of money or a big network so I had figure things out and find a mentor. I’m blessed to have had the opportunity to learn form and be mentored by some of the best in the industry Dr. Eric Thomas and Jeremy Anderson.
But I wasn’t easy to build my credibility as a professional speaker. You’ve had plenty of people who will looked down on me or won’t give you a chance to speak at their school. Even when I offered to do it for free lol.
It’s all a part of the growing process. That’s why getting to the other side of things feels so good because I know how hard it is to make it. I know how hard it was not to quit, but I all worked out because I didn’t let temporary problems make me make a permanent decision.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Have you ever heard of a superhero? Sure, you have, but have you ever met one? Well, you have today, because I’m a superhero and hope is my superpower.
My keynotes, workshops, and professional development presentations that I deliver at school all over the country jumpstarts the culture and instills hope into the students and educators.
I stand out from others because I help students to connect their dreams to their education and I help educators to connect with the hearts and minds of their students.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are simple: Be the best I can in my faith, marriage, fatherhood, and business. The rest will take care of itself.
