Life & Work with Tamika Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika Thomas.

Hi Tamika, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Thank you for this opportunity to share my story and my journey. I think most people will agree that having passion and desire to serve others often is a journey of trial and error. Being an entrepreneur comes with a lot of ups and downs. The one thing I learned is I must first give myself what I desire to give others. This includes radical inspiration, radical forgiveness, and radical grace for the journey ahead I started by serving teen moms at a local continuation school for free. I truly live a life to inspire and not impress. My whole goal was to one day be a household name. Each day I took one step some days it was baby steps to get me to reach my ultimate goal of becoming a woman that helps other women heal, elevate, and become fully restored. I did this through group coaching programs, offering six books, my podcasts Tuesday Healing with Tamika, my healing products, and now I am proud to say my TV show which allows me to be a household name.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Some of the major challenges I faced was having a major stroke in front of my children, a divorce or as I like to call it “I successfully completed a relationship”. Losing my grandmothers and lost of self-doubt. The thing most people don’t share about their journey is life still happens in the midst of the journey. You will face many roadblocks but the thing to remember is roadblocks don’t mean stop they simply mean find another way around.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an inner healing coach, author, speaker, and TV host. I specialize in helping professional women of color heal broken relationships and mindset so they elevate their brand, influence, and voice. What sets me apart is I walk my clients and listeners through the healing journey leading with Authenticity and transparency.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and networking with other like-minded people is key. What worked well for me is 1. Having pure intentions. People know when you only want to connect with them to get something. Never build a relationship only wanting to get be prepared to give. 2. Give people your yes. Some of my biggest opportunities came from my yes. A lot of times people couldn’t pay me but my yes opened up other doors. 3. Serve, serve, serve. Have a servant leader’s heart. Meaning not only serve but again have something to offer. All great leaders mastered being great followers.
