Today we’d like to introduce you to Ine Burke.
Hi Ine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My journey started from my passion for photography. I self-published several photobooks about the beauty around East Texas through conventional book printing companies.
Around 2017, in search for more creative and affordable alternatives, I discovered a new world of bookbinding, unlocked the secrets of making books by hand, and was hooked ever since.
The liberty of being able to experiment with different types of paper, dimensions, covers, and binding styles leads to the birth of one-of-a-kind handmade artisan photobooks.
My bookbinding exploration voyage goes on and the rest is history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say that the challenges I face are not so much on the creative side but more on the “business” side of my bookmaking adventure.
I’m still learning how to market, connect with potential customers, and sell more of my products.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make books/journals as well as keepsake boxes and photo frames with bookbinding materials. I hand cut, fold, punch holes, stitch or glue the materials and turn them into beautiful, sturdy, and functional stationery.
However, what I’m most proud of is the artisan leather journals with hand-stitched spine.
High-quality materials, precision, durable end product, and creativities set me apart from others.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Focus and treat the challenge as a path to move forward and grow stronger. Do your best and believe in your creations.
I wish I knew or believed more firmly that there are many more kind souls than obstacles crossing path with me in this venture that I shouldn’t have been worried too much over small or even big hiccups. I have been enjoying this ride and am excited to keep going.
