Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilee Duran.
Emilee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love for makeup began as a freshman in high school. I wanted to find a way to boost my self-confidence and as my confidence grew so did my skill in makeup. Before I knew it even my friends and those around me started wanting their makeup done by me! Once I saw how good people felt about themselves because of my work, I knew in that moment that makeup wasn’t just a hobby for me. This was something I had found passion in and knew I had to be a makeup artist. As time passed, I got more and more clients and 6 years later I finally quit my job to give my dreams the attention it deserved and started my journey as a freelance makeup artist. My goal was to create a safe space for anyone wanting to feel not just beautiful but also powerful. Now I am a full-time makeup artist and a self-employed owner of Beauty by Emilee, where everyone is beauty.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the hardest parts about being a business owner is taking that leap of faith and actually starting your business. It’s hard not to compare your work to others and it’s even harder to not fear rejection. But once you let go of all the worries and embrace what makes you different from everyone else, the results are so rewarding. Even if it feels hard at times, always trust the process.

My name is Emilee Duran and I am the owner of Beauty by Emilee. I am a self-employed makeup artist who specializes in all things beauty! My most known for looks are soft glams, where I focus on bringing out my clients’ natural features while achieving a glowing and bronzed finish. My work ranges from glitter and glam to bold graphic looks! As a makeup artist, I am most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients as well as the big moments I’ve gotten to be a part of. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing that I helped others feel how beautiful they truly are.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My favorite thing about Fort Worth has to be the food! As a Hispanic, it is so important to me to stay connected to my culture so being surrounded by authentic Mexican food is amazing. On the other hand, my least favorite thing about Fort Worth has to be the traffic! You always have leave home early to ensure you get somewhere on time because the traffic can happen at any time.
