Community Highlights: Meet Julio Garcia of Foodies Clan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julio Garcia.

Hi Julio, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In July of 2020, my family and I moved from Dallas to Waxahachie. At that time, I was running a Digital Marketing Agency, I had a few customers which allowed me to survive in the middle of the pandemic.

Arriving to Waxahachie I wanted to go big and I thought every local business was going to accept my ideas. Little did I know, every business I talked to, rejected my ideas as if nobody cared to grow their businesses, as if they were all comfortable to what they were already making.

It was a down moment for me because in 3 months I could not land a client.

One day my parents came to visit, we drove around and they loved the town, even talked about maybe moving to Waxahachie and start a business.

So, we went from a conversation to actually moving forward with the idea of starting a business, they sold their apartment back in Dallas, we all rented a house and invested all the money from their apartment into their new business.

I told them to let me take care of their marketing and I also helped them with all the permits, licenses, etc.

By January of 2021 we launched a small business called Doña Jacky, and little by little we started blowing up, our Facebook started growing, and within 11 months in business we went from a 340 sqft location to a 2700 sqft location.

This inspired me, the growth we had in our business was no luck, was definitely hard work and well-planned strategies that allows us to move up as quickly as possible.

So, I decided to build something where I could help other small restaurants do the same, help them grow their brand, have a steady flow of customers.

So, Foodies Clan was born, a community were Foodies and Small Local Restaurants can connect.

Where foodies can create friends, a following, create a list of their favorite places and even rate them and show them love.

A community that is 100% free for both the business owners and the foodies.

Where the business owners can either learn a practice my strategies for free.

I offer some services if they want to save time etc but mostly everything is for free for them to access whenever they like.

My goal is to create the this community to grow nationwide.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, not at all, growing a family business has a lot of challenges, egos, drama, etc

As well as ganancial struggles, a lot of people think that being a business owner is easy, we make good money (hahaha) etc

But when we first start, most of the time people don’t know but business owners can make way less than an employee 😅 and we still have a lot more responsibilities and stress to take on.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Foodies Clan?
Foodies Clan is a Social Network / Food Directory for Foodies.

We are creating a place where foodies can network, share, follow, adventures around the nation l with the little gems, these small restaurants, usually family-owned or mom and pops owned.

Where they can review them, show them love, add the into a favorite list or what we call a to-eat list (to-do).

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I believe in being generous and kind, I want to share as much value as possible to these small businesses because they need it.

I created this community so that I don’t have yo do it alone, and as we are growing, we will be able to bless these businesses more and more.
