Today we’d like to introduce you to Sevin Christian.
Hi Sevin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started with amateur go-karts simple trips to the local karting track. As I grew older and started researching ways to join Motorsports I then went and obtained a racing license. From there, I would join an amateur endurance racing team and started to gain seat time in a race car. Now I’m speaking with a professional F4 (Formula 4) team and am now testing with them. Will be a part of the team for the 2023 season starting my professional racing career in open-wheel race cars.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You tend to have your good days and bad ones no matter what, but the road isn’t always smooth. There’s always something whether it’s finances crises or car issues and so on and so forth. But one struggle I can say I had and it motivated me and shaped me was my trip to New York for my first competition race. We traveled to New York. My father and I took an Uber to a rental car place that we had reservations for. Upon arrival we weren’t able to get a rental car and was stuck there for several hours. Our plan was to fly into New York and drive to the track which was 4 hours away. Being stuck in Newark we constantly tried and tried to find an Uber that would be willing to take us the way there. Stuck at a local restaurant we sat and ate at looking for a miracle we finally found one. We landed at maybe 10/11 am and didn’t find an Uber until 9/10 pm so we were pretty much stuck the whole day. I set the Uber up to take us halfway from the destination which was Scranton Pennsylvania. Once we made it there, we kindly ask the gentleman if he would courteously take us the other 2 hours away and he did. We ended up paying him a bit more for his services but he was a blessing and miracle we needed. We were planning to jump back on a plane and heading back but I was so determined to make it to the track and complete my first competition race at a very famous track “Watkins Glen International.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m currently a Technician at a Dodge dealership. Since a little boy, I have always been by my father side. One thing I quickly picked up was automobiles. My dad was a technician also for maybe 30-plus years. I want to say I started working on vehicles around the age of 4. My dad would show me basic things like changing brakes and oil. Now that I grew older and experience a bit more education I know more. At my employment, I typically work on the Engine and Transmission side. From pulling engines to even rebuilding them, I can do it! What I’m most proud of is securing a Job at a well know Italian auto shop. I was just 18 at the time but I was around cars I dreamed of as a child. The shop serviced Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Maserati, and even other high-end vehicles. Having the opportunity to be around so much priceless machinery and being able to work on them and even ride in them was mind-blowing and a privilege. What sets me apart from people is that I’m very determined to finish things quickly but correctly. I tend to work very quickly because time is everything. The faster you can finish something you can start another job which means more money. Also making sure your work is correctly done is the biggest. Nobody likes working on something twice so I tend to double-check my work before I send anything away. I kinda have that mindset with a lot of things I do but at work that’s the motive.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Never Give Up and stay humbly positive. No matter how hard the road gets or what adversities you face keep pushing. You go through certain things as learning lesson and progress for the future. You could be so close to a goal and not even know it. Giving up does nothing but start you over at ground zero! So, keep pushing, work hard and conquer success. Another thing is to have a positive mindset within anything you do. I’m big on energy, so what you put into the atmosphere I believe you’ll receive back. Tend to keep positive thoughts and attributes in general. This will definitely help keep you motivated and ready to achieve any goals in life you plan. Always believe in yourself no one else will like you will with yourself.
