Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie K. Moore.
Hi Christie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I knew when I was nine that I would help people for the rest of my life. My first passion is helping families honor their lost loved ones. In 1988, I watched my great-grandmother’s embalming and later burial. Watching my family cope with their anticipatory grief is what guided me toward the desired path to help families navigate their loss.
In 1995, I expressed my higher education plan to my parents which were to graduate from high school, forego the traditional college route and immediately pursue a mortuary science degree. Understanding that my strengths were math and science, they insisted that I complete a bachelor’s degree as a foundation and then pursue my Associate in Applied Science for Embalming and Funeral Directing.
In 2016, I decided to purchase my own funeral home. Mansfield Funeral Home, located in Mansfield, TX serves all families in the spirit of excellence. Mansfield Funeral Home was the #1 top-rated business in TX for 2018 and 2019, #1 top-rated in the DFW metroplex in 2020, and voted Best Funeral Home by The Dallas Weekly in 2020.
My second passion is helping others through education on entrepreneurship. I understand that starting a business can be exciting but overwhelming and confusing, especially when you don’t have the correct resources at your disposal. I strive to be a resource that business owners can depend on.
I have started multiple businesses, as well as consulting with businesses. I understand the ups and downs of being a business owner. I recently developed a three-part masterclass called “Moore Than Entrepreneurship” to help current and new business owners succeed in their craft.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It would be easy to say the road has been easy because I tend to take everything in stride. However, when I take an honest assessment of my life the road has had many twists and turns. The struggles have come from me learning that everyone does not have my best interest at heart. Most recently I’ve learned that personal agendas are real. I have learned how to strategically sift through different scenarios to determine if moving forward with people, such as vendors and associates works best for my overall purpose.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a speaker and entrepreneur, I remain open to continually learning new things and expanding my brand. This year, I hosted “The Amethyst Gala”, which was held on August 11th in Red Oak. This event honored entrepreneurs as well as non-profit leaders in the Dallas-Fort Worth Community who are making significant contributions to the business world and our community.
On February 2, 2023, I will be hosting my second gala “Crème de la Crème”, which will recognize, celebrate, and honor public servants as well as non-profit leaders.
Starting February 2023, Mansfield Funeral Home will open the only on-site crematory in Mansfield. Our crematory will offer witnessed cremations in a comfortable environment that will offer peace and solace to the families of lost loved ones. We have always approached life (and death) differently. While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation, and even celebration. This is evident in everything we do, from the way we conduct our services to the amenities we choose to offer.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
First, all praises go to God for allowing me the opportunity to serve His people. My first cheerleaders were my parents. They placed me in an environment where success and successful people were always within reach. As young parents, they selflessly gave of themselves so I could have the best of whatever I wanted or needed.
My grandparents and great-grandparents taught me the importance of maintaining traditions and loving and respecting others through difficulties. My aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends… honestly, I have been very blessed to have so many positive influences, mentors, and supporters in my life. I am thankful to everyone who has supported and mentored me. I will forever be grateful.
