Today we’d like to introduce you to Carole Dello Russo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I worked for a corporate owned “big box” type pet supply as a dog trainer. While I loved my job, I was very limited on the types of dog training I could offer clients, and decided that branching out on my own was what I really wanted to do. While working in the big box store, I met my business partner, David Roberts, through training his dog. We struck up a conversation one day after training class, and the rest is easy to guess, since we’ve been partners in business over 4 years now!
We started with a dream, a wish, a prayer, very little money, and a whole lot of sweat equity, and built our business that way. David and I built out the entire interior of our building, and managed to open the doors in just over 3 months’ time. Since then, we’ve expanded and grown more than our expectations and sales forecasts each year since 2013. We now have an 8500+ sq. ft. facility, and room to grow.
Our families were incredibly supportive of this venture, and we couldn’t have done it without their help! Their support and hands on help, the support of some close friends, two “angel investors” and one anonymous donor helped make our dream a reality.
We found our niche here in Burleson, TX, and offer the community and their dog’s great services, including overnight boarding, training, grooming, and doggy daycare.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We believe that in life, there are really no smooth paths to success. It’s been a great adventure, and has presented us with roadblocks, setbacks, and successes. Luckily for us, the successes have been far greater than any roadblocks and setbacks we’ve experienced. David and I both wake up every day ready to face anything that comes at us, and remain so thankful for the successes we’ve already achieved in just 4 short years.
Like all small businesses and start-ups, we’ve experienced struggles that have helped us to grow and learn. We firmly believe that our clients are our best resource for feedback, and rely heavily on that to let us know if we fall short of expectations in our services. We’ve worked hard to build a great team that works with us, and are so proud of all the team efforts that go into the daily running of our place.
Please tell us about All American Dog Training, Grooming, & More.
We specialize in dogs! We do class room style, positive reinforcement obedience training, and also offer clients private, one on one training if they’re having a specific problem with their dogs. We work with all kinds of dogs, and don’t discriminate against any breed. Our obedience training is offered at 3 different levels, and we also offer the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test to our 3 Level graduates. We employ 1 trainer besides me, and she’s the best in the area!
We offer grooming 6 days a week and our groomers are top-notch, offering everything from a simple bath and nail trim, all the way up to a show dog groom, and everything in between. We have 3 groomers that contract with us, and each of them has their own special and unique style, but all of them take great care of the dogs they groom.
Our overnight boarding kennel suites stay full all year long, especially during the summer and all holidays, so we have to encourage everyone to book early! We are in the planning stages for another expansion for more boarding suites and hope to have the project started sometime this year.
Our doggy daycare program is offered weekdays and keeps us all on our toes, for sure. We have 3 different rooms to accommodate dogs of all sizes and personalities. Play time is enjoyed daily and our daycare attendants are full of fun and energy to keep up with all the doggies!
One of our slogans is “Improving the lives of dogs, one family at a time”, and we truly believe that with all the services we offer, that’s exactly what we are doing.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start all over again, the only thing I would do differently is make sure I saved up more money to invest in my success! I’m sure my partner would agree with me there.
