Community Highlights: Meet Sara Sheehan of Sara Sheehan Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Sheehan.

Hi Sara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Following a 27-year career working for multinational consulting firms and Fortune 100 clients, I stepped away from working with large management consulting firms and created my own business. My specialty in the people side of business comes very naturally to me at this point. It is a part of who I am. The executive coaching side of my business is a skill set that I started building about 8 years ago. At this point, I am a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, and my goal is to become a Master Certified Coach. I have a tremendous passion for the insights an executive coach can help a busy executive gain. It’s a highly creative process and it is something that can change someone’s life. You can get insight that will help you truly level up your life and career.

Developing my own business has been a huge change and one that requires defining who you are, as well as differentiating yourself from competitors. This journey has helped me find my voice and show who I am authentically. Strategic marketing also drives more audience interest and engagement and increases conversations with ideal clients or people that can connect with you. This business development process can be full of challenges or filled with joy and ease. I leaned on my faith and this foundation informed the best path forward.

Through this path forward, I was invited to be an author in a collective book for the first-time last month. “Worth the Risk – 21 Lessons on How to Launch, Leap, and Leverage Your Faith for Massive Business-Growth” is a book about faith in business by sharing lessons for massive business expansion. The book is based on Luke 5: 1-11 where Jesus has a conversation with Simon Peter, a fisherman. My chapter is number three, Jesus Enters the Boat, and I share seven ways that faith played a role in developing my business. I invite and encourage the readers to check out the book if this message speaks to them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth may not be the right word. I think it’s been an interesting road with different places and all kinds of people. Whether it’s my team or my clients, there are so many people that I truly care about and have enduring connections with. Interesting in this case means that the road has a lot of context with many colors, shades of gray, and dimensions. My path has not been traditional by any means, and I have the self-assurance to stand in my purpose and design at this point.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sara Sheehan Consulting focuses on executive coaching and change consulting. My Pinnacle Executive coaching program helps busy executives sprint their way up the corporate ladder. Over six months, I work with busy executives to set goals, increase their performance, manage or resolve conflict, build better relationships at work, and create an advisory team so they can be even more successful. An ideal client for the Pinnacle Executive Coaching program is at a senior director level or above in a company that has at least 100 million dollars in revenue annually, all the way up to Fortune 100 companies across any industry.

My consulting business focuses on helping clients through big, complex business transformations from a human capital perspective. I specialize in strategy, organization design, change management, talent development, and optimization. Typical business triggers that reveal the need for a change consultant include mergers and acquisitions that need to be integrated and require strategy and organization design work, a new senior leader on the executive leadership team needing to indicate the need for strategy and leadership alignment, as well as digital transformation to create demand for change management, training, and communications.

The industries where I have the most experience are consumer markets, life sciences, pharma, and medical devices. However, my specialty really can be customized to any industry. At this point in my career, I would love to work with more clients in the mid-market that are growing and scaling their businesses. For both sides of my business, clients with 100 million dollars in revenue, up to 5 billion in revenue, would be my sweet spot for coaching and consulting. I am open to working with start-up businesses that are actively scaling for growth as well. I believe that I don’t need to trip over my former consulting firms gunning for projects in big corporations. If I can serve a large company and they would like to do business with me, the door is open.

What makes you happy?
It genuinely makes me happy to do all kinds of things: a consistent workout routine, cooking dinner, and enjoying the freedom of an inviting evening at home as well as entertaining others or guiding a client to make a decision that will improve their outcome. All of these things are part of a positive mindset and make me a happier person.
