Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Deakins.
Hi Miranda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My story starts my freshman year of college in 2016. I’d watched so many YouTubers in previous years and was just getting down to deciding my major. Ultimately, I decided to go with Creative Media Production because something was pulling me there.
I fell in love with cameras, editing, and photography. I always loved taking photos and videos every chance that I could. My sophomore year I started my YouTube channel and got started learning how to do social media. I was very busy in college between academics and traveling to football games every Saturday in the Fall with the college marching band, The Pride, at the University of Oklahoma, so my YouTube channel was put on the back burner.
Fast forward to January 2022. I had just gotten off a 7-month-long feature film, I started a TikTok account and a brand-new Instagram for a clean slate. I have since loved posting on TikTok and have had so much fun curating my Instagram to be a personal photo album of outfits, jewelry, and more. Then I started a new job on a TV show in March. My social media got benched for a few months while I was working. (Film industry schedules are insane, so I had free time outside of work for 5 months). Now October, I’ve started a new job as a social media marketing associate at a local med spa in Frisco and have more creative freedom and free time to do what I love, which is creating content on the internet!
Although my accounts are still growing, I’m having fun in the process and learning so much more about the social media influencer industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I struggle a lot with imposter syndrome. Some days I feel like I’m not creative enough or that people don’t care what I say or do. But my small community on Instagram and TikTok brings me comfort!
The last 2 years while I was working in the film industry really set me back in my personal goals on social media, so I’m excited to give it way more time and attention!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m starting to get really into fashion and personal style! I like to show people that you can still look put-together and stylish without breaking the bank. Amazon has some great quality fashion pieces these days and I’ve started an Amazon Storefront to easily categorize my favorite finds to relay to my community!
I’m still growing into my creative style & who I am as a microinfluencer, and I’m so excited to see where this journey leads me.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Happiness = success
I think as long as you’re doing what you love and you’re happy, that is success to me. Not riches, not possessions, not social status, happiness, and the joy in life is the most important thing. All of the other stuff is just a bonus!
