Check Out Eloy GonZalez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eloy GonZalez. Them and their team share their story with us below:

It all started in 1988. Eloy R. Gonzalez Jr. was born in Midland, Texas to Native American mother, a paralegal, and a Spanish American father who was a small business owner.  When he was old enough, his mother would introduce him to music from Motown, particularly the Jackson 5, to artists like Nirvana, Luis Miguel, Loretta Lynn and Oasis. It wasn’t until the age of 10 when being babysat by his great grandparents that he saw the first music video that would change his life forever; Oasis’ “Don’t go away”. Hearing the chords and seeing that this group of guys were actually making this sound and he could visualize it, sparked in him a meaning of purpose, and has since been driven to pursue a professional career in music. At the age of eleven, after being inspired by Blink 182 and other such pop punk and indie music, he start playing the bass guitar(4string). At the age of fifteen, he would acquire an acoustic guitar after being inspired by the Dave Matthews band. “After I heard the live cd at red rocks from DMB, I was inspired and curious as to how a few guys could make such music that made me feel like everything was okay.” He discovered the he could be both the front man and play guitar of a band. Gonzalez has since recorded his first full-length record, Day by Day, with producer Taylor Tatche (Garret Owen, Maren Morris). He is currently in the middle of his second record set to be released sometime in 2023. Gonzalez is open about his addiction and alcoholism. He treats his alcoholism as a blessing today rather than anything else. It has helped him realize the reality that life and beautiful moments are fleeting. Gonzalez’ struggle and triumphs with alcoholism are referenced in his music. Gonzalez is a new father to a baby girl, Norah, named after Norah Jones. Gonzalez enjoys working on his craft in his studio in central Dallas. He enjoys spending as much time as he can at home in Ft Worth with his family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been anything but a smooth road. Well, there have been and are some smooth areas but for the most part, rough. Since age 15, I have struggled with alcoholism in and out of treatment centers and AA rooms. As the years have progressed, I have embraced this disease as a blessing. It actually is one of the biggest reasons I felt I had to write and record my first record, Day by Day (2021).

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. I’m the front man of a group of 4 and have performed at venues such as: Double wide, three links, main at south side, sundown at Granada. I’m known for playing harmonica, singing, and playing acoustic rhythmic-style guitar. I’m most proud of our first record, day by day (on all streaming platforms under Eloy Gonzalez), the work my band has put in to get to this point. We are currently in the middle of record #2 set to be released in 2023. What sets us apart from everyone else is that we have a sound no one has ever heard before. It’s a mix of melodic vocals and harmonies mixed with indie and alternative country music. The harmonica and acoustic guitar, are beautifully accompanied by pedal steel guitar played by Marco Bartolomei of Chicago IL. Sean Biersdorfer, a phenom drummer from NY, NY, adds a tasteful but powerful pocket to the mix. Lee Kroll (Ft. Worth) brings a classically trained rhythm section with the bass and will soon be playing electric guitar as well. We can’t wait to show the world the new sounds of the times.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To treat every single person with kindness, love, and compassion.
