Meet Alex Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Delgado.

Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A jack of all trades. When in high school, I noticed I had an interest in photoshop and digital art in general. Learning small tips and tricks from my brother was big for me to even know what the field was to be honest. Attending W.H Adamson High School, I was able to have the greatest Multimedia teacher, Ms. Mats, she helped me clean up my raw talent using different programs. The real inspiration came when I saved up for my first digital camera though. Using it not only to record my friends and I, but taking pictures of any, and everything. This was no professional camera, just your average point a shoot model. It was something that I enjoyed as a hobby but never thought of it as a profession until I purchased a used Canon DSLR. I was in Mopar car club (DFWLX) and I took interest more in automotive photography at this point. Still using my point-and-shoot camera, I wanted to save some money for a better camera but thought of it as a reach. I ended up getting with the car club president and bought his old camera. From there, it was a learning curve. I had to teach myself the ins and outs of the camera, and how to properly use it. I was on and off about photography for years. Not fully committing myself to the craft and not building my confidence. The reason I wanted to add the digital art and photoshop part early was because it helped with me presenting my work. I struggled with capturing the perfect shot in camera. However, I was able to use my editing skills to fix any issues after shooting. This allowed me to have more creative freedom when I was working within my camera. As years passed, I stuck with it, but only as a hobby here and there. It wasn’t until September of 2022, I finally put my foot down and made the commitment to be all the way in with it, and even officially making my business name an LLC. With the help of my fiancé, family, and a couple close friends. I was able to start booking events and opening myself up to grow more. I feel great about how much patience I’ve had and not giving up completely on a dream that started so long ago.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The only road that stood in my way was myself to be honest. No one is harder on me than myself. If something was wrong with a photo or edit, I would be too hard on myself and thinking that I didn’t belong in the field with the other photographers.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I mainly focus on photos and small marketing videos. With photography, I love to shoot without having to direct my subjects. Things like landscapes, sports, and recently dog shows. Just capturing people being themselves. Strangely enough, when doing marketing videos, I love taking charge, putting my clients in a position to speak to their audience in a way to bring attention to the business. The shoots I enjoy doing the most are high school football games. It might just be me wanting to relive those moments, but I know these kids love to see themselves in this moment. Bringing them those smiles and memories is priceless.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I have to say, just surfing the web and social media helps me on a daily basis with learning more.
