Check Out Sarah Rose’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Rose.

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started making music in 2017 with just my laptop and a 25-key midi controller. The DAW that I learned on was Garageband because it came free with my laptop, so I thought, why not? I remember feeling so excited putting stock loops and stock sounds together to make a song; It felt so natural to me. I was always fascinated with the process of creating a song from start to finish, and I wanted to educate myself on the fundamentals of music production, so I decided to enroll in educational classes taught by university professors and talented artists such as Ryan Tedder and Charlie Puth. I had my ups and downs throughout my music journey, but I’ve come to realize that I enjoy the process so much more when I’m not overthinking every little detail. I just create what I like and that has been more than enough for me. Along the way, I have networked with some very talented artists and musicians, and I am always looking for the next potential collaborator because I love creating with other people. Everything that I’ve learned, screwed up on, and did amazing at, has molded me into the producer that I am today, and I am continuously learning, and am extremely grateful for every opportunity I’ve had.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t easy along the way. Just like with anything in life, you have to go through some bad to get to the good. Nothing is ever easy when you are working towards something, that’s also part of the reason why the outcome is so rewarding because you dedicate yourself to whatever it is you’re doing, and it is such an amazing feeling when you finally accomplish your goal. There were times, and still are times where I get writers’ block or am unmotivated to create, but I always get that spark back. That’s another reason why I am big on not forcing anything and just allowing it to flow naturally because sometimes you need to give your brain a break and that is totally okay; that is NEEDED! Ultimately, all of the issues I’ve faced, no matter the severity, I am grateful for them because they are like a reset for me and help keep me motivated even more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a musician and freelance music producer. I don’t like to put myself in a box, so I like to create whatever it is that I’m feeling or inspired by. I recently released my debut single “MOTIVE” which is out on all streaming platforms. I’m proud of how the whole concept came out and I wanted to make sure I told a story with it not only musically, but visually. I plan on releasing more music as an artist and currently am working on that at the moment. But ultimately, my heart is in producing for others and that is what I have the most passion for. Something I am extremely proud of is that I was recognized by R&B artist SZA after remixing her song “Good Days.” She was kind enough to share it on her Instagram along with a nice comment which really skyrocketed my video to earn to half a million views. Stuff like this inspires me to keep going and reminds me that everything will be worth it in the end. What sets me apart from others is that I am a female producer in a male-dominated industry. I hope to inspire other female artists or producers in the way that I have been inspired by others. There are a lot of talented female producers, and I really hope to see more representation in the near future.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
One of my fondest childhood memories was when I got my first puppy, Daisy. At the time, I was in elementary school playing on the playground after school, and I saw a stray puppy. My sister and I begged my mom to take her home, and she ended up letting us! It was so exciting for me because I had been wanting a dog for so long and that’s what really jumpstarted my love for dogs.
