Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariza Najera.
Mariza, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It began with a leap of faith and the ability to put everything in God’s hands. My life was flipped upside down, I was going through a divorce that forced me to relocate and had to adjust to being a single mother of four. It was a very difficult time in my life, but that’s ultimately what propelled me to make a career change.
I went from night club management to this very hectic Real Estate industry; it wasn’t an easy transition.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all, I’ve run into plenty of obstacles coming into Real Estate. I was a 38-year-old single mother going through multiples of life’s major stressors at once. I had no experience and no one to hold my hand. Nonetheless, I gave it my all and worked tirelessly to navigate those waters. Today I truly feel like I’ve made it! My first year as a Realtor I was named Rookie of the Year at my brokerage and in the almost 5 years since then, I have been a multi-million-dollar producer every single year. That doesn’t just happen, you must wake up every day and push yourself to just go. Regardless of the day’s challenges, personal problems, and emotions, you must get up and go. Now I’ve got enough experience under my belt that I’ve started pursuing a broker’s license and earlier this year I started my own team, Madera St Real Estate Group. I have a couple of agents who’ve joined and who I’m now mentoring. I love to encourage them; I feel that’s what I do best actually! We work well together because we truly care for each other, I love those women and I know they love me! I know it will take more work and dedication to make the team a top producing one, but I’m up for the challenge and know we’ll get there eventually.
My career has been a true gift from God, it has opened my world and allowed me to conquer goals that in the past, I could’ve only dreamt of.
I’ve recently started my own flipping business, Madera St Inc. I have a passion for renovations which pushes me to persevere in a male dominated world. Dealing with all male contractors and workers has not been easy, many of them think they can push me around, but they’ve quickly learned that this woman whether in heels or boots calls the shots.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Real estate is a powerful thing. Where you live becomes the center of your universe, your “home base,” and a place where memories are made. Even an investment property can have a profound effect on your life’s story—when chosen correctly, it becomes long-term financial freedom. I truly believe that because I’ve lived it. I go into every transaction with that mentality, knowing how that one house can transform someone’s life. That means something to me!
Owning a flipping and home renovation business also allows me to serve my clients in a special way. I’m able to help them envision themselves in a home that in the moment may not be up to their standards but may be wiser financial decision. I don’t force them into something they don’t want but I help them weigh their options and come to decision that is best for them.
I’m also fully bilingual in English and Spanish, I really enjoy serving a multitude of cultures.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m a country girl! Many people wouldn’t guess that just by looking at me but I am. As such, I’ve chosen Terrell Tx as my home. My roots are in Durango Mexico, and living in the country, I feel keeps my connected to my origins in a way than many people may not understand.
