Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara La Salle Allen.
Hi Tamara, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Ok, I’ve been an entrepreneur since childhood that’s over 36 years. I sold everything from stick people drawings for a dollar to washing cars to selling blow pop suckers for a quarter. I’ve come a very long way. My current venture is a revolutionize app I created myself with absolutely no loans, grants, gifts, credit cards or investors. To be honest, when I came up with the idea, I was the brokest I’ve ever been in my life. Now I don’t want to spend too much time on that perspective because we’re currently in litigation with Navy Federal. But I was able to take something I was well versed in and created an amazing company in about 3 months. I didn’t care that I needed engineers, equipment licensing, programmers etc. that I couldn’t afford, I seeked out those things and created budgets and projection charts like I had access to my money to execute. Because I kept doing the work the team came together who saw my vision and somehow, I was able to work with the little money I had and made a lot of promise to pay backs with the strangers who we’re building the app. Shortly after that Truth Credit Rent Bureau was birthed. It’s one of many companies I’ve organized, but it has brought me the most rewards in the shortest period of time, arming me with the resources to build and cultivate a community that empowers each other.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t been easy but has been very fulfilling and rewarding in a very short period of time. That’s not traditional in business but I’m very grateful it took off like it did. Not having access to my own bank account put me in a situation to become more creative and more aware of the type of energy I allowed around me. I kept reminding myself that God created from nothing. He spoke everything into existence. Remembering this allowed me to operate from the position of abundance instead of lack. And how everything came together it was so magical. But this is what happens when you truly believe in God’s word and do the work without ever wavering in doubt. I stood on everything God promised us all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
It’s an app that allows both consumer and business renters to report their on-time rent payments to the national credit bureaus. We’re the first fintech company that report to all four of the major credit bureaus for consumers. Experian, TransUnion, Equifax, and Innovis. And we’re the first to report rental payments for commercial leases to SBFE, Creditsafe, Dun & Bradstreet, Equifax business, and Experian business. It’s free to download and is available on both Google Playstore and Apple App Store. There is a $19.99 sign-up fee for consumers, and we’ll report the past 24 months of historical rental payments as a courtesy and then it’s $1.75 per month to continue reporting going forward. For business renters it’s a $99 sign-up fee, and then it’s $5.00 per month to continue reporting. This allow people with no credit or thin credit files to boost their credit scores. I’m proud to provide a solution to bridge the gap to wealth creation for students, immigrants , ex felons and other type of renters who need the boost on their personal scores just by paying their rent on time. It’s the gateway to home ownership and other credit products to a group of people who wouldn’t normally qualify.
Any big plans?
Believe it or not, in 2026 I’ll be retiring and becoming a full-time housewife. That’s right, I’ll be a 100% helpmate to my husband Jeremy Allen, and I’ll help execute all of his plans and goals beginning 2026. This is the biggest role outside of being a mom that I’ve ever had. But Truth Credit Rent Bureau will be here for generations to come.
