Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel DeLeon.
Hi Gabriel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My father, Juan DeLeon, opened a restaurant in 1988. From then, I was immediately consumed and fascinated with the business. In 2010, I met Steve Hartnett, and we opened Mi Dia From Scratch in 2011. We now operate three Mi Día From Scratch restaurants and offer catering across the DFW metro area.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The restaurant industry is hardly ever a smooth road. It takes a team to overcome shortcomings and keep our standards in place to remain consistent. It has been quite the journey, but I could not have done it without the support and guidance from my father, Steve Hartnett, my mentor and personal coach, Patricia Quintana, Martin Meir, and many more.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Mi Dia From Scratch specializes in Santa Fe, Tex Mex, and Mexico City cuisine. Our menu alone separates us from others. All of our dishes are traditional Mexico City recipes utilizing fresh and high-quality ingredients. Even our margaritas are all hand-crafted featuring the finest and freshest ingredients and spirits. We bring personalized food, always made from scratch to you and your family. Our team also sets us apart as they are our greatest commodity. I am most proud of the team past and present who helped Mi Dia From Scratch set the standard and develop the brand.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the people here; everyone is very supportive and friendly. I also enjoy the weather!
