Meet Kristin Carter of Gringas Rim Dips

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Carter.

Kristin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in 2020 when covid hit. I’m a mom who has been struggling for a long time working as a manager for various restaurants. Working long hours, holidays basically living at my jobs. Slaving away for other people and getting sick and tired of making money for other people and my hard work not being appreciated and going unnoticed. I decided that I wanted something to call mine. I had a dream to make people smile and crave something. I’ve bartended for many years, started in Vegas. My favorite drink is a michelada, so I was messing around one day and started making my chamoy. Started out with watermelon and now have 7 different flavors. I thought to myself, this is tasty super delish. Then, I started doing candies. Blew up on TikTok started sending 100s off free boxes to influences on TikTok; now I have over 18k following 100’s of 5-star reviews, strive to be original and different, putting my heart and soul into my recipes, and it kinda took off from there while I started doing pop-up events and pick-ups from local friends. It took off, and now I a website with over 80k in sales this year and a spot at the Denton flea market on Sundays. I created a logo based on me being a gringa, making a Mexican-inspired product. I never thought I would blow up so fast, but the responses from customers have been amazing. I hope to open up a brick-and-mortar soon. That’s the goal for 2023, and I would like to say thank you for even considering me for this opportunity. I’m beyond grateful and big dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles for sure. Once I got big on TikTok and the orders began to come in by the hundreds, I had to change the way I was doing things, pricing, packaging, just getting the hang of things, taxes, payments. Switching to LLC its deff been a learning process and still learning every day

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I had a pretty ruff childhood, and I’ve been through a lot. Both my parents were addicts; I was moved around a lot and didn’t really get to enjoy my childhood. In 2016, my father committed suicide. I don’t really have a favorite childhood memory
