Brandi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, I’m Brandi Davis, a Family Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of The Candy Lady Cosmetics. You may be wondering how I made may entrance into the world of cosmetics from the busy world of healthcare…Here’s what happened…. In 2019, I took notice that myself, along with my nursing colleagues were showing up to work, looking as if we hit the snooze button one too many times. Granted most of us were moms and lived busy lives outside of work, but I knew the power of feeling your best. You know the saying right??? When you look good, you feel good; when you feel good, you perform good… and on days when all I had was an extra five minutes throwing on some lipstick and mascara running out the door or in the car, all seemed right with the world. January 2020 The Candy Lady Cosmetics launched with the busy mom, wife, and career woman in mind, the woman who desired to look and feel her best, even if short on time. We have created a “Glam on the Go” box which is the perfect solution for the “on the go” woman and even the makeup beginner.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the major obstacles was that we launch right before the pandemic hit and a lot of our scheduled events were cancelled. It was very difficult trying to build brand awareness the first two years of business,
What matters most to you?
The Candy Lady was a staple in my community in New Orleans; she serviced the community by selling sweet treats. The Candy Lady Cosmetics not only sell cosmetic products, we also donate cosmetic products to disadvantage teens and women. The brand was designed with versality to bring affordable and deeply pigmented products to the everyday woman, beauty beginner, and expert makeup artist.
