Community Highlights: Meet Yamil Hernandez – Tartak of Yamil Hernandez Realtors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yamil Hernandez – Tartak.

Hi Yamil, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started in the business in 1987 as a young 21-year-old. I worked for different companies from Henry S. Miller to Re/Max before branching out on my own as a Broker in 1992.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is rarely a smooth ride. I worked 7 days a week and over 80 hours a week for the first 20 years of my career; I still work many hours but have found a balance between work and personal interests. Normally do not work on Sundays and/or after 4 pm on Saturdays even though I do still email, text, or take care of minor details on those days.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our business is 90% residential sales and 10% commercial. We have been in business for over 35 years and have helped over 2,000 families make their dreams of owning a home come true. Our business is 100% referrals as we are now helping the next generation buy or sell their homes.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
In the beginning, I enjoyed working closely with several Brokers that had been in the business many years and they mentored, trained, and supported me in every aspect of my journey.
