Today we’d like to introduce you to Chyna Norman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been invested into the beauty industry! I love everything hair, makeup, fashion, etc.! I remember in elementary school I auditioned for the popular agency known as Barbizon. I received 2 offers and I was SO excited, but I was met with a few difficulties that led me to have to decline the offer. I was devastated. Moving into middle school I use to always post makeup looks on my beauty Instagram. I stopped due to the lack of consistency. Moving into high school, year 2020, I started YouTube! I began posting more content like beauty vlogs, tutorials, hair content, and I felt like I FINALLY found my groove! But we all know that CONSISTENCY is the KEY to major success, so that soon faded out. I knew that graduating from high school, I needed to get serious about my pathway leaving school. Being in high school they never really spoke on different trades or occupations outside of the “norm.” I found my passion in my own industry, and it opened my eyes up to so many different possibilities that I know suited my route to being my OWN boss. October 2021, I chose to take the first step into pursing my career at Paul Mitchell The School Arlington! I graduated August 2022 and then soon received my license in the mail November 18! It was one of the most exciting days of my life. I felt like a HUGE weight was lifted off my shoulders. Being a licensed Cosmetologist, it opens you up to a WORLD of possibilities in and outside of the beauty industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Nobody told me the road would be easy. I can’t believe I made it this far; my whole life I’ve been working so hard. – Rod Wave. I pride myself so much in this lifetime being faced with so much adversity, trauma, and setbacks. One thing I know for sure is that all this pain and struggle is not going in vein. I know my life has purpose! God will NEVER hand you something that you can’t handle. What keeps me going and strong is knowing that the troubles that I am going through in my life is meant to build me! Build character. It’s ultimately molding me into who I’m going to be! WHO I AM. Everything happens for a reason. I know that I was chosen. Sometimes all we have is our faith and in those moments are when you FIGHT and PUSH the most. I lost my father September 2021, and it was ultimately the most heart aching things I had to experience, but understanding life is understanding we all have a purpose here on earth and when your time is up, it just is. I love you forever and always daddy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a licensed Cosmetologist, Content Creator, Influencer, and Entrepreneur! My entire brand is specialized in everything Lifestyle, Fashion, and Beauty! Anything attached to me comes with GROWTH and that’s one of the main things I admire about myself. Progress over perfection is my motto. I’m always elevating, learning something new to “perfect” my craft and make my brand better. I’m eager and hungry for knowledge and wisdom. You don’t see that a lot with my age group. Many just want the success without the blood, sweat, and tears. To me, it makes me appreciate what I have even more because of the dedication and consistency I instilled into myself. I’m so proud of sticking to my plan and my vision regardless of what I may have faced working my way to success. I worked extremely hard to get to this point I am now and I’m not even NEAR where God is going to take me. This is just the beginning of ETERNAL GREATNESS!
Any big plans?
I’m most excited to be meeting so many like-minded individuals and figures who are on this path that I can be able to learn from and further my knowledge in this industry. My main focus for this year 2023 is BUILDING MY BRAND. I currently have a set schedule where I’m uploading and dedicating to TikTok, but I want to be able to also move that content to other platforms I am present on as well. Fashion is a big highlight for me this year as well; I want to incorporate more styles and looks into this year as I’m continuously building my social media presence. Something that’s more outside of my comfort zone and different from what my audience is expecting. I want this year to be big, memorable! It will. A steppingstone to my most influential years to come.
