Today we’d like to introduce you to Herman Guerra.
Hi Herman, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started handy-man type work with my father when I was very young, waking up at 5-6 am with him to help cut tiles or mix mud for drywall. Fast forward and I graduated from UT Austin in 2006. Worked as an Investigator for CPS for 5 years then a Juvenile Probation Officer for 5 years. Was able to open a small BBQ restaurant in East Dallas- ONE90 SMoke Meats- which got me out of the government work. Decided to get away from the restaurant industry and sold off my portion of the restaurant. Worked for a contractor friend for a year then started up HG&Co. Started off doing simple things myself, like painting walls or small items around a house. In 3 years, my business has flourished into a full-blown construction company. We complete additions, renovations and will venture into New Home builds this year. We also have a retail store down the street from the Arboretum, where we sell flooring, tile, plumbing lighting, etc. We serve east Dallas. We make the Building process easy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No never shoot. True grit and hard work got us here. We learn something new every day and adapt to all of the change around us. Always having to cope with a larger business than the month before. With zero business training, everything has come together through trial and error. Learning how to manage customers to how to guarantee the build process, we push through the thick.

We specialize in home additions and renovations. This year we are looking to really push our retail store on Garland Road. We can assist home builders, interior designers, contractors in organizing their projects. We are proud to be from East Dallas. East Dallas is a huge reason why we have been so successful. We’ve always guaranteed a quality product. With so many bad contractors out there, it’s made it easier to seek ourself as trustworthy, reliable, and high quality. We want the reader to shop our retail store!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Favorite childhood memory is honestly the easy living at my parents’ place. Took it for granted then but my favorite memory is just being home with my mother and siblings, did lots of cool things, like going to Europe but what comes to mind is just being happy at home
