Hi Genesis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey with the makeup industry began as a long-life hobby. Since my early childhood days, I have played with my mother’s makeup and used my sisters as my personal mannequins to practice makeup. When I was around 19, I found myself wondering what I wanted to make of this passion, and I decided to do makeup on my friends just for fun and free of charge. Eventually, though, they would love it and ask me to do it again and pay me and it never seemed to stop ever since! Post-COVID is when I started to dip my feet in the bridal makeup industry as there was such a high demand for wedding makeup due to the lockdowns being lifted. My clientele and name grew quickly, and I am now 3X times certified makeup artist special using in Bridal makeup and hair. I have a salon suite located in Duncanville where I service all my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an easy road, specially in this type of industry. I grew very quickly and at a very young age. I have always been the youngest in most settings, so with that came a lot of trials, errors, and a lot of overall growth. There is immense pressure when it comes to doing makeup on some of the biggest milestones of people’s life and sometimes, I may feel a little defeated and overworked but you truly have to love this day-in and day-out to make it a long-time career so despite the difficulties I am truly fulfilled in this moment.

I am a 3X times certified makeup artist specializing in bridal and other special events hair and makeup. I have a private suite to tend to all my beautiful clients new and returning where I not only offer makeup services but a luxurious comfortable experience where clients can get dolled up and drink a little champagne or mimosa and leave all the stress of getting ready to ME! I am most known for my bronzing and clean-skin finish technique, but I am always jumping out of my comfort zone and creating a variety of looks which you can check out on my Instagram page @glamworksbygen
What do you think about happiness?
Feeling like I make a difference makes me happy. I love the expression on my clients’ face when I create something they love. A lot of clients express their gratitude with a hug and sometimes even tears and it is pure bliss fullness to know that I can do that with just a makeup brush and some colors.
