Today we’d like to introduce you to Royce Jackson.
Hi Royce, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been shooting for over a year consistently and it has been amazing. The amount of creativity I am able to accomplish is indescribable. I took a chance on myself and invested in a camera. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any new venture there are ups and downs. My biggest “struggles” were getting people to buy into my new business. I am in a field that is saturated & finding my own lane required some work.
Other than that, making sure my pen stays strong when it comes to editing as well continuously learning new methods to improve the quality of my work. These are all things that I believe any entrepreneur goes through.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in portraiture. Whether that be fashion, birthdays, or even impromptu shoots. I enjoy all aspects of photography so there isn’t a job that I would turn down.
I’m most proud of my consistency and progress in this career. It’s easy to become complacent, I have avoided that by just truly enjoying what I do.
I believe what sets me apart from some of my peers is that I am self-taught completely. I didn’t go to school nor training for any of this. That and the fact that photography has always been a hobby of mine, so when I decided to make a career out of it, it never felt like a “job”.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love everything about my city honestly. I believe a Dallas shows support to those who have a great product. The food is amazing too.
