Meet Lysette Morones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lysette Morones.

Hi Lysette, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am from Dallas Tx born and raised. I have three beautiful babies. My world practically revolves around my kids and they’re the reason I’m always going so hard. I wear a hat of many trades and I have a passion for each of them. I am a Tax Preparer, Claims Adjuster and a Brow Artist. My passion for the beauty industry started at a young age. I used to watch my tia do her makeup and hair in the mirror. As I got older I got into hair, skin care and self care. Fast forward a couple of years I had finally enrolled in cosmetology school. At that time I was a mom with 2 kids. I just had my second baby so it was really hard juggling two kids and being a full time student. Eventually I did have to drop out because I didn’t have help with my kids and it was hard finding a sitter. So I always told myself I would get back into the beauty industry when the time was right. A couple years had passed and that’s when I was called to be a model for a friend who does brows. I remember sitting in the chair paying so much attention to detail on what the Brow Artist was doing. I remember thinking to myself, “I wonder if I can do this” and throughout my entire session I kept gaining more and more interest! I had fell IN LOVE almost instantly with the art behind brows after I seen my final results. After that I took the owner’s next available class and now, I’m a Brow Artist! When I started working at the salon, I knew that I had to put myself out there. I’m not much of a social person but I knew that if I didn’t overcome my social anxiety people wouldn’t book or knew I had become a certified Brow Artist. So, I made it a priority to make content every day. I’d stay up late nights designing my own flyers. I would go to the salon and create live videos to engage with my followers. When I tell you I was doing everything in my power to build my name, I did EVERYTHING. By the time I decided to go on my own and build a brand for myself, I had a pretty good number of followers and supporters. It wasn’t easy creating a name and brand for myself. It took a look of consistency. I say this all the time and I will keep saying it, keep posting regardless of the amount of likes, comments, and shares you get. People are watching you. Word of mouth goes a long way! There were times where I’ve had people who never liked a single post of mine DM me about my services. Yes, it can be very discouraging that nobody is interacting with your content but trust that they are looking and paying attention to everything. You get as much as you put out so make sure you’re putting your best foot forward. It’s never easy overcoming a fear. It’s easy to close yourself in by letting your negative thoughts consume you. I honestly think that was the biggest struggle. Blocking out the negative thoughts that I had created myself. I’m such an organized person and not having a plan in place was scary. I had to keep pushing myself. The bar was definitely high for me. I did it though and that’s something I will forever be proud of.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Powder Brow Artist and I’m obsessed with the art that I create! The most common question I get asked is “How does it work?”. Well, I use is a machine with a single needle that creates tiny pixels and deposit pigment into the first layer of the skin. This creates a misty-filled brow that resembles makeup. This service is great for all skin types meaning dry, normal to dry, oily & combination. Your brows will last about 2/3 years depending on your lifestyle and they’re waterproof- they won’t wipe off! If you’re looking for a service that will last and doesn’t require much maintenance, definitely consider Powder Brows! It can be a little nerve racking for a first time client because they don’t know what to expect. It’s never easy trusting someone with your face. I offer consultations so that I can better explain and show clients the process as well as a preview of the brows. I’ll never be pushy on a potential client. If they’re not comfortable then it’s a no go for me. I’m all about making my clients feel comfortable. I feel like people know me as someone who’s trustworthy. Meaning I’m not going to accept any client just for their money. It’s to protect myself and the client. That is something I live by. That has gotten me recognized. People want to know that you have a passion for what you do. When its genuine they’ll notice. My name and Brand are behind it all. We’ve all had that one experience where we’ve felt like someone provided you a service just to get paid. It’s not the best feeling. That’s not what I want my clients to feel. My clients mean the world to me. Everyone knows how hard it is to build up clientele. During appointments, I try to make them enjoyable since it’s a couple of hours I am spending with my clients! Im someone who likes to laugh and talk so you’ll catch me breaking the ice with clients and next thing you know they’re so comfortable that they’re knocked out in my chair. Environment is everything. What I’ve learned is that not every client is for you. It’s okay for a client to reject you. It wasn’t meant and that’s okay. You have to be okay with not being everyone’s cup of tea. You will attract the right clients by being yourself. As you get deeper into your business you will find what works and what doesn’t but one thing have to do is remain solid- true to who you are! There is only one you, remember that.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Looking back at how everything played out, it was definitely a journey! Becoming an entrepreneur is never easy. It takes a lot of guts to take that jump. The jump that everyone is so scared to take. I’m talking about that FEAR! The fear of not knowing what’s going to happen. The fear of not being good at something you love. There’s so much that can hold one back when it comes to starting a business. Before making any huge decision I always make sure to pray to God and ask for guidance. That’s how I make all my decisions to be honest. I did exactly that when I felt it was time for me to leave the salon. Eventually, I left and rented out my own suite. That’s when it really kicked in! Like wow, I have my own suite. That’s when I started DallasBrowBabe AKA my baby. There’s a lot that goes into starting a small business. Everything that you do matters. There’s no open book that tells you how to run your business. Of course, there’s help but you have to find your rhythm and figure out what works best for you. I’m also a mother of three and work a full-time job so it was had trying to make sure I had the TIME. When you have no help, it feels as if your back is against the wall. There were nights I cried because I doubted my potential. I was scared and always questioning myself about how I was going to do it considering I have three kids under three and work a full-time job. I had to figure everything out and build some kind of plan. I made sure to do my due diligence and research things. Researching helped me get a plan together. Again, there’s no book to all of this. You have to figure it out as you go. Google and YouTube are your best friends so I’ve learned. There are other Artists on YouTube that help break things down for you. They don’t give you all the answers but man do they get you started. Always remember, WHERE THERES A WILL, THERE’S A WAY! If you feel you are stuck, please don’t panic. Figure out why you’re stuck, find a solution and keep moving forward. It’ll all fall into place.

How do you define success?
To me success is accomplishing your goals. Its growth, change… evolving! Anything that makes you a better person or that creates a healthier space for yourself. If I can look back and think to myself “Wow, I never thought I’d get this far”, that’s definitely success right there. If I can look back on my growth and think to myself “Wow, look at how mature I’ve grown to be”, that’s success. To me, success isn’t defined as one “thing”. It could be ANYTHING that you accomplished. I feel that “success” is a word that makes us feel as if we did something right in life. I like to speak more on CHANGE because change is what really gets you places and shows how far you’ve came. You have to change your environment to evolve and move forward. You have to change your mindset, change your perspective, etc. When you start to change things will slowly fall into place. You will be exactly where you wanted to be. So, I guess success to me means CHANGE! If you accept the positive change in your life, it will lead you closer to what you feel is “Successful”. Milestones are apart of success as well. These are the significant events in your life. Through each milestone you will learn something you didn’t know about yourself or a situation. You use your milestones as “stepping stones” to push you closer to your goals. These are all very beautiful moments that we should cherish because again, it’s brought us closer to success.
