Inspiring Conversations with Carolina Tardelli Realtor | Davidson Lane Real Estate Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Tardelli.

Hi Carolina, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to the US almost 8 years ago after a divorce, I wanted to have a new beginning, learn a new language and a new culture, as well as develop my business knowledge. I started as a student, learned English at Richland College, and started investing in real estate, buying and holding residential rentals.

After all these years, I still have a challenge with the American culture. My home country, Brazil, has a family-centered culture, where the we usually have family and friends’ gatherings, what me and my kids miss a lot. The life here in the US is so work-centered and it is easy to get overwhelmed.

I lived in Florida for almost 3 years, got a MBA in Business Administration and was able to connect with my equestrian friends and the show-jumping business in Wellington, FL. I got my Florida license to work with real estate – equestrian farms and vacation rentals.

I moved back to Texas in the end of 2019 to be closer to my sister and to manage my real estate business. The Dallas area has an amazing real estate market for its affordability and my long-term rentals were always profitable. In the end of 2021, I decided to get my Texas license and start working as an agent helping people sell, buy, or invest in real estate.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The culture has been a challenge for me and my kids. I know people face lots of changes in life and we need to be able to adapt and move forward, but it is easier said than done! Moving from Brazil to USA was a big change and I faced a challenge I never imagined with the cultural differences. The United States has great positive points which make it a wonderful country to live, such as security and opportunities to grow professionally, but there is also an individualistic culture which is very different from my country, Brazil.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a real estate professional – I invest in real estate and I also work as an agent, helping people buy, sell, or rent residential real estate. Being an investor and an agent are two very distinct things but my experience with investing gives me an “extra” when working as an agent. The investor part is basically finding ways to profit and build wealth from real estate; however, it requires a great market analysis and financial planning. My experience with real estate investing gives me another perspective when I am working as an agent . For example, when listing a client’s house for sale, I can advise my clients on smart improvements to make and refer good contractors, to help them sell for more.

Besides of the fact that an agent just got paid after they actually close on a house, I always keep my client’s best interests first and I don’t pursue every lead I have.  I like to focus on each of my client’s needs to fulfill them and help them move to the next stage of their lives. Moving is not easy, people can be attached to their houses, there can be lots of feelings involved. I like to give attention to their situation and make sure they understand the process of selling or buying so they can make good decisions.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The advice I will give for aspiring agents is to make sure you have another source of income or that you can support yourself in the beginning, until you can build your network. Being a real estate professional gives you great flexibility to manage your time and there are so many paths you can pursue – investment, agent (sales), property management, financing, or the service areas like: remodeling, landscaping, designing, and photography, just to cite some.
