Conversations with Romario Luviano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Romario Luviano.

Hi Romario, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started baking many years ago as a hobby. I really fell in love with decorating cakes, cupcakes, cakepops, cookies, etc. As the years went by, I would get a bunch of compliments on how cute my creations were. During the pandemic, I decided to start my small business as sweetcreationsbyromario. When I first started, I pretty much would make whatever my clients wanted whether that was a cake or a variety of small treats, I tried to provide delicious homemade treats. This year I made a big change to my business, I rebranded as sugardaddycookies offering a variety of homemade cookies, custom sugar cookies, and some small cakes. I’m really looking to expand my business and invest a lot more time in trying to make it my full-time job.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, I had so many obstacles that came up when I first started. I had a hard time starting on social media because I would create some posts/reels that would take so much time to get right and then the range of people it would reach was very disheartening. Although it’s been hard sometimes, I’ve never wanted to give up because I really do love baking.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work full-time as a vet tech at an animal clinic. I love working with animals and at one point I was even going to college to become a vet. As I got further into my baking, I realized that it was my main passion and wanted to proceed with it further. When it comes down to my baking, I’m known for my sugar cookies and creating many different fun themes. I’m really proud of how far I’ve improved since I first started years ago. I think what sets me apart from others is my ability to go above and beyond for my clients.

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I’m pro risk-taking because if it pans out it can really mean a high benefit. I’ve definitely taken some risks with my business, the biggest was starting it by myself while working a full-time job. I think that the risk was worth it because now I am doing what I love and getting to meet so many new people through my job.
