Today, we’d like to introduce you to Robin McCoy. Robin was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Janet Bernstein.
Robin, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
I was born in Dallas then my family left when I was 8 years old and 30 years later I chose to come back. You can take the girl out of Texas but you can’t take Texas out of the girl. Over the years I have run outbound telemarketing centers selling everything from children’s books to long distance phone services (yes I’m that old) to energy. I have also worked from many years in retail helping customers with everything from dishes, to cookware, to furniture.
In 2008 I got my Texas Real Estate license…I am not always known for my timing. However, through those initial years in selling real estate I learned how to not only handle a rapidly changing environment I elevated my skills in working one-on-one with people from all walks of life. In the last 15 years I have been privilege to assist many people achieve their goals.
In 2021 I became a podcaster! It wasn’t anything I ever planned or considered until the opportunity presented itself and I walked through the door. Having been a college radio DJ it felt like putting on an old shoe; comfortable and exciting.
Being a Texas Realtor I am in the unique position to know so many wonderful, interesting, and amazing people inside and outside of real estate. Plus as a 8 year member of the American Business Women’s Association that circle keeps growing with amazing people.
I host 2 podcasts “Relax, I Got This” which is all things real estate and “Crushing it With Your Tribe” which highlights all the amazing people doing amazing things. I sharing the knowledge I get from the people I know and the podcasts allow me to do just that. They both can be found on your favorite podcast player.
Please tell us more about your brand, Robin McCoy Real Estate
Many people think one Realtor isn’t any different from another. However, this could not be further from the truth. Realtors create relationships with their clients and it is that relationship that makes one different from another. I run my business the way I run my life…with gratitude, support of others, and an undying will to get my clients exactly what it is they want from the transaction. When someone buys or sells a house it is potentially the largest financial transaction they will ever have. This is a lot of responsibility to ensure they understand the process and get what they want out of the interaction. That is my goal; to educate (the rules of real estate engagement change daily) and provide a unmeasurable service. The podcasts came out of that desire to educate. “Relax, I Got This” aims to educate everyone on the real estate process. Financing a home, improving credit, staging a home, roofs, solar opportunity, inspections…they whole thing. Because the more you know the better decisions you can make. “Crushing it With Your Tribe” was born out of the “everything else”. I realized I knew so many incredible people and they weren’t real estate related. That didn’t mean their stories shouldn’t be told! So podcast #2 was created. I love having people on the show that enrich not only me … they enrich my listeners as well.
Janet Bernstein and Modern Lightworkers have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Janet Bernstein and Modern Lightworkers and your experience with them.
I knew of Janet Bernstein for years through all the Dallas networking circles before I actually met her. I always thought she was this amazing woman who ran large women’s groups, wrote books, and was a public speaker….and when I met her it was all true! What was also true is what a wonderful and supportive person and friend she is.
Since I have gotten to know Janet she has pointed out doors for me that were there…I had just never stepped through them. In 2020 she showed me how I can write the book that has been inside me for several years. It isn’t finished yet however 98% of it is out of my head and on paper.
Last year she opened the public speaking door by offering me the opportunity to speak at her event “Amplify” here in Dallas. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the event and boy was I blown away! Janet had gathered together a group of like-minded women who were there to learn and grow from each other.
When Janet and I were talking about me and my real estate company being a sponsor she suggested I also consider being a speaker. I stared for a second and then thought, “Why not?” I have wanted to tell a particular story for some time (it is what the above book is about) and the door was presented to me and I just needed to walk through it. So I did.
With this event Janet created a place for women to step out of their comfort zones. It was a place where we came in strangers (some of us) and left as friends (all of us). Anything that Janet does… I’m on board.
