Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Morgan.
Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey studying biology in school while finding fun and exciting vegan recipes to try. My love for health, nutrition, and science has been apparent throughout my journey.
Over time I wanted to combine my passion for studying herbs and body health with a favorite pastime of cooking and baking. I started to create a healthier variety of cannabis-infused foods for close friends and family.
Making healthy treats became a passionate hobby that turned into a legal business.
With the federal legalization of hemp CBD, I began to understand the benefits of CBD and how it could become more accessible to those interested in healthier natural remedies. Then I developed a plant-based/ vegan product line of CBD wellness products and CBD chocolate bars.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a first-time business owner, the road has been far from smooth. Each plan, accomplishment, failure, or celebration has been a learning lesson for me.
Legal cannabis businesses are risky and oftentimes carry a stigma; I’ve had to grow tough skin and focus on the benefits of the plant and how it can benefit so many people.
A struggle I’ve faced along the way was the difficulty of securing a payment processor.
As a business owner, you don’t have a profitable business if you don’t have a payment processor.
Contracting a processing company that supports CBD businesses was a struggle! Rejection after rejection, I refused to give up.
Another struggle is the shift from not having a supervisor or manager that can provide a specific set of processes and goals for the growth and success of the business. Trial and error have been one of my best teachers, as well as continuing to try my best even when a solution isn’t clear.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have had an herbal business coach, Stephanie Boucher of Bud to Bloom, that was instrumental in the growth and formation of this business. Helping me take my business idea to a legal and sustainable CBD business that aligned with my values and ethics. I have also had the opportunity to be a part of an executive training program for cannabis business owners, The Black Cannabusiness CEO Intensive Program (CEO Intensive). I’ve been equipped with a great amount of business knowledge, a supportive network, and valuable insight from advisors and business leaders in the industry.
My family also plays a huge role in my success; their acceptance and encouragement have been extremely valuable.
