Community Highlights: Meet Nuri Crenshaw of Katherine Kole Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nuri Crenshaw.

Hi Nuri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
At Katherine Kole Marketing, we’re anything but typical. As the Founder and CEO, I didn’t start out with a Computer Science degree.  I had a passion for English and Marketing and wanted to be a journalist, but God had other plans. My journey began when I hired a designer who missed our deadline and didn’t understand my brand’s vision. That’s when I knew I needed to learn how to code and pursue my love for web design. After furthering my education with an emphasis on digital marketing and graphic design, I decided to launch my own agency, which was inspired by the grace, strength, and resourcefulness of my grandmother, Katherine. Our goal is to empower small businesses with the tools and resources to maintain their own websites, while offering custom branding services that showcase the unique qualities of each brand. We stand on the shoulders of incredible women who have overcome adversity with laughter, love, and faith – and we’re here to help our clients do the same.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that the path to success is never a straight line. There are times when uncertainty and doubt can creep in, leaving you questioning whether you’re on the right track. But I’ve found that embracing those moments of uncertainty and taking time to recharge can be a game-changer. That’s why I start my day with a playlist that is equal parts gospel and trap music, along with a Starbucks coffee and some toddler giggles. These simple pleasures keep me going when I’m feeling overwhelmed.

Being the boss means that the buck stops with you. There’s no boss to turn to

when things get tough, which can be both liberating and challenging. But I’ve

found that serving my core audience – small businesses, woman-owned businesses,

and nonprofit organizations – keeps me focused on my purpose and that is always

worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Katherine Kole Marketing. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Katherine Kole Marketing is not your average marketing agency. We’re a boutique agency that offers web design, branding, copywriting, and soon social media management and team-building services. Our mission is to deliver your vision with vibes and strategy.

As an entrepreneur, you need a hype-woman who understands your “why” and delivers a luxury client experience. That’s where my team comes in. We believe that building your brand is about more than just a project – it’s about building a lasting relationship. So, whether you’re just starting out or you’re looking to take your business to the next level, we’re here to help you shine.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t believe in luck. One of my favorite lyrics comes from a Jonathan McReynolds song, and he says, “I’m not lucky; I’m loved.” Every good thing that’s happened in my life has been because God covered me. Every room I’ve entered (and even some I may not have been qualified to enter) and the impact I’ve had on others has been because God gave me the strength and the ability to do so. I am so incredibly thankful that His love for me is unconditional.

When I first started my business, I had a vision, a passion, and a whole lot of hustle.  But I also had doubts, fears, and uncertainties.  Initially, I focused on not having industry connections or a large social media following.  Changing my perspective has made all the difference.  Now I choose to remind myself that my faith, my God, my supportive family, and a willingness to learn and grow is the true recipe for success.
