Rising Stars: Meet Michael Rossi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Rossi.

Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Northern National is an Alternative Rock band from Dallas, TX. Formed in 2016, the 3 pieces (comprised of musicians Michael Rossi, Anthony Comas & Dylan Greene) have made a name for themselves by creating meaningful and powerful songs. After having success both in touring the US and on Spotify, in 2020 when the world shut down, the guys halted everything (excluding writing) for the next two years and set out to create the best music they have ever made. After dozens of songs written/recorded Northern National has now begun their journey of “coming back”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, but that’s exactly how it should be! Over the past 7 years, we have gone through many ups and downs and highs and lows. We’ve gone through a few different band members and have found and lost success. The music industry is hard to navigate at times, but the 3 of us have always had the same goal in mind… to make badass music! Probably the biggest struggle for us was when COVID shut everything down. We were really gaining national momentum and playing a lot of shows around the US, but then everything went cold. We didn’t let it completely get us down though! We started writing/recording like crazy and created some of the best music we have ever made!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a 3-piece alternative rock band formed and based out of North Dallas. Some songs that we’re known for are “Dallas” and “Slow Down” both of which have amassed millions of streams on Spotify. Something that sets us apart from other artist we feel is that our music can pair with almost any genre. We’ve played alongside country, pop, rap & hip-hop artists and those shows have honestly been some of the most entertaining and fun shows we have ever played! We don’t like to label or put ourselves into one box, music is an experience, and we want to share it with everyone.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Don’t be afraid to talk to anyone and everyone! Obviously getting out there and being a part of the scene (whatever that is for you) is super important, but when you go out you HAVE to find courage to talk to new people! One of the biggest things that we’ve seen success in is following up as well. It’s one thing to make a new connection with someone but keep that connection alive! Turn that soft lead into a real friendship. That doesn’t mean you have to become best friends but definitely strive to be more than just social media acquaintances.
