Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Reyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Reyes.

Hi Jasmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Two years ago, my sister asked me to help with desserts for my nephew’s party, something cute and individual for each guest. After some thought, I realized it would be cute and different to use mason jars and create a few different flavors that I could layer in a delectable way. After this party, I received positive feedback on the product and packaging, which encouraged me to take this product to other small businesses to start sampling the 3 flavors I had available at the time. Word of mouth and farmer markets in Grand Prairie have increased my business so far.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s not been a smooth road due to the last few years being a pandemic making it hard if not impossible for any food business to stay afloat, much less a new budding business I’m based off of word mouth advertising. Therefore, I thrived by constantly advocating the business and even reaching out to online influencers and thinking outside of the box to reach my community to get a chance for them to taste my sweet treats.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a mortgage service professional by trade and am currently a legal assistant with the mortgage realm. My 15 years of experience has taught me to continue learning, strive to succeed, and believe that I am more than capable. I am most proud of being a subject matter expert that created training material still is use in a major corporation today.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Patience. I have learned that business is time-consuming and not readily able to push forward immediately. The excitement started the business but slow and steady keeps it going. Being patient has taught me that I have to keep learning how this should work to be successful.
