Meet Lady Redneck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lady Redneck.

Hi Lady, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started playing the piano and guitar when I was 6. My parents both played in a band, and I grew up in a musical home. We entered a talent show contest as a family and won when I was about 8. The picture in the paper of us shows the guitar looking bigger than me. Haha! That was the start of our family band, “Dusty Boots.” We played all over the northwest doing fair circuits, weddings, corporate events, and everything in between. It was a great way to grow up.

“Dusty Boots” consisted of my dad, two of my sisters, and a female drummer, Becky Clapp. We all play several instruments, and part of the show was us switching instruments mid-song.

Music has always been a big part of who I am. Now, being married and living in Texas, I decided in 2016 to record one of my original songs and see what I could do. My first song, “Love Me Baby,” ended up winning a songwriting contest and being played on Indie stations across the world. It made it on at least 3 different chart, and it was the start of “Lady Redneck.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a smooth road overall. My biggest struggles have been balancing family life with my music. Having a little one, I made the decision at the beginning not to tour. I had planned to start touring in 2020, and then Covid hit.

I think my biggest struggle has been not doing enough live shows, and I really miss being on the stage! Grateful it’s getting started again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Besides the name, Lady Redneck, I think the fact that I don’t sound like everyone else, I don’t like songs like everyone else, and I’m not afraid to speak my mind – definitely sets me apart. I have morals and high values, which is a lot different than a lot of the music you see in the world today! I am known for my Christian and country music. I love God. I love our country and will defend it, as well as our Constitution, every chance I get. I love families and believe they’re important not just for each individual – but for our society as a whole.

I am most proud of the fact that I have so many wonderful followers, fans, and friends (over 1.2 million) who support me, believe like I do, and love my music.

What do you think about happiness?
So many things… generally I’m a. happy person. I love God, and knowing He loves me makes me happy. Sharing His love makes me happy. Being with my family… running, lifting weights, working out… long runs or walks on the beach… well, pretty much everything at the beach.

Fishing makes me happy. Being in nature… writing a song exactly how I feel… dancing the night away…
