Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Viola.
Amanda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The start of my business came out of necessity and a little bit of desperation. Both my husband and I are in public education and have been for over 15 years. About 3 years ago we got into a situation where we needed a little extra money each month and knew we needed to look beyond our daytime jobs to get that accomplished. After some searching, I was able to find a part-time job doing laundry out of my home. I had no idea this was even possible but found it worked perfectly!
The new part-time job provided me the flexibility to set up my laundry work schedule during evenings and weekends allowing for full commitment to my family and a full-time job while providing some extra funds to lighten the load each month. It didn’t take long for me to see the potential for growth and the opportunity to help others in the same situation as me. Even though there have been some stressful times along the way, I love what I have created and look forward to what the future holds.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been some definite struggles along the way. Running a business is very new to me. One of the obstacles I had to face was believing in myself enough to believe I can do this on my own. In addition, all of my working experience has been in the public education realm. I know customer service and helping others but knowing how to market and grow a business is definitely out of my comfort zone.
I am still learning through experience and advice from others the best steps necessary to take to achieve success. Even with the struggles, I wouldn’t change a thing. This whole experience has been such a blessing and I can’t wait to see where it all leads.
TAGG Laundry Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
TAGG Laundry Services is a full-service wash and fold laundry provider. It sounds pretty basic but the main focus is on providing clients with the customization and convenience to guarantee very little has to be done once their laundry is returned. With flexible and responsive scheduling we pick up and drop off at the client’s front door.
We use the preferred detergent and dryer sheets, hang dry or machine dry, and fold or return on hangers depending on the preferences of the client. Laundry is such a chore. Allowing TAGG the opportunity to take that chore off of a to-do list allows my clients the opportunity produce some extra time in their day.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is measured through the satisfaction of my clients. The whole purpose of providing a laundry service is to be there to help. Regardless of the circumstances, I value to opportunity to meet a need and exceed the expectations of my clientele.
