Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Yungerberg.
Hi Tom, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We only started our board game company Rough Draft Games because we wanted to hang out more. Unfortunately, as a result, we had to form an LLC, figure out how to pay incorporation fees, learn what a tax nexus was and establish multiple production and fulfillment partners.
Everything we’ve done as a company, we did because we thought it would be fun. Our business is an extension of our friendship. It makes tough decisions and disagreements more difficult, but we couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do this any other way.
We hope that the sense of humor and the comradery we share as two weird dudes bleeds through everything that we create for the board game community. We want you to feel like you know the guys who made the thing you just played, and by playing it, we just hung out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh jeez, man. We’re so glad you asked! I can’t tell you how tough this has been for us. We’re really struggling right now, actually. If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know if we’re going to make it. Sometimes we just lay awake at night staring at the ceiling thinking, “What have we done? How could we have possibly gotten ourselves into this situation?”
Maybe this is a good time to tell you guys, or maybe it’s not, but we need money, and we need it fast. I spend my time buying 5-dollar scratch-offs in hopes of making back everything we lost, and Garrett is selling his blood plasma.
We gotta sell our board games, or something bad is going to happen to us. We can’t say what, but you gotta help us out, man.

Oh, God… I can’t believe I started this interview process before coming up with an answer to these questions… What should I say? How do I respond?
We’re a board game company, and we’re very proud of our first game All Rise, which is a courtroom-based storytelling game that you can find on our website. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s unironically something that we’re proud of.
