Meet Stephanie Mendoza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Mendoza.

Hi Stephanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in California and I remember we would take trips to Disneyland often. I have always been a Disney lover and as I got older, my love for Disney and travel grew and grew. Fast forward some years, we moved to Texas and I took my first Disney World trip and I absolutely fell in love with Disney World. I came back from Disney World and got right back to work, but I always reminisce about our Disney World vacation. For three years before Covid-19, we would take yearly trips and I would always do all the planning and research as things are always changing at Disney. I had my son in 2020 and wanted to stay home with him but still contribute financially to our household, so I did my research and due diligence and became a travel agent. Now I do something I truly love and enjoy. And I still make yearly trips to Disney!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was difficult at first to put my name out there. Nowadays there’s the internet and people are less likely to use a travel agent for their vacations not knowing it’s completely free to use a travel agent! The first year I became a travel agent, I had minimal bookings due to the pandemic and that completely shattered me and I almost considered quitting, but it didn’t stop me. I continued to promote myself on social media. My second year as a travel agent is when I started booking more clients as COVID-19 restrictions started lifting and I haven’t stopped ever since.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a travel agent that specializes in Disney and I speak fluent Spanish. I help families plan their magical vacations to all Disney destinations, which include: Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruises, Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa in Hawaii, and Adventures by Disney. I save people money, time, and stress. I can see deals that a person might not be aware of. Disney travel is my passion so they’re in the best hands. I’m always up to date with all the news and changes going on with Disney.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’d love to network with fellow entrepreneurs in my area and I can be reached through email, Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. Disney offers extensive courses to best prepare someone wanting to become a travel agent specializing in Disney vacations. I did not use a mentor as I did my own research in this field as there’s many different routes to take. I recommend anyone interested in the travel industry to look for local host agents and interview a few to make sure your values match their needs. I have worked very hard to promote my services with extensive research, perseverance, passion, and trial and error.
