Inspiring Conversations with Marie Montano of Marie Montano, REALTOR®

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Montano.

Hi Marie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes! My name’s Marie Montano and I’m your local DFW realtor. Born and raised in Southlake, TX, a suburb of DFW, I’ve always enjoyed real estate. Touring open houses and new build construction was a weekend activity my mom and I would do together. I knew I wanted to get my real estate license early on, but continued on to college where I received a degree in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University.

I interned in New York City every summer throughout college, which taught me how to hustle and pursue my passions. Post-college, I moved back to Dallas and started working in influencer marketing. A few years into my influencer marketing career, and once I decided to settle back in Dallas, I earned my real estate license.
Coming up on my 6th year in Real Estate, I’ve built my business through a mixture of friends, family, referrals, and cold leads that have come from social media marketing, yard signs, and my website. In terms of sales, my growth rate year over year averages around 227%. I’m so very thankful for the opportunity to run my own business and work with clients every day who make me love my job.

I’m a people person, very organized, and an over-communicator, so working through each step of the buying, selling, and leasing process comes very naturally for me. My goal for every real estate transaction is to communicate each step clearly and to ensure my client’s needs are met. My favorite part of my job is showing houses to find the perfect fit for my client’s dream home.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Totally – it hasn’t been anything out of the ordinary. Breaking into the real estate market as a new agent is always a challenge. If you’re looking to become a realtor, you’ve most likely heard that it takes about 2-3 years to launch full-time, and I can confirm that was true for me. Word of mouth takes a bit of time to spread, and you have to market yourself to find and retain clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of Marie Montano, REALTOR®. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a REALTOR® – I help clients buy, sell, or lease their next home including single-family and multi-family properties. I currently reside in East Dallas and have lived in various areas of Dallas for the past 10 years. While I specialize in the Dallas market, I’ve assisted clients from Springtown to Forney and Cedar Hill to Aubrey.

It’s not one thing individually that sets my business apart from others – but a collection of items that make my business successful and unique. I am a hard-working people-person who is ultra-organized, over-communicates, and works hard because it’s what I love. I have a certification in communication, negotiations, and social media. I drop what I’m doing to meet clients at homes, help determine their offer, meet up for inspections, and am completely invested in helping my clients from start to close. One thing I’ve heard my client say is ‘You’re always available’ – and I try to be. The least of a client’s worries throughout the real estate process should be booking a time that works for their agent, so I always want to be accessible.

I’m most proud to have repeat clients and referrals. It means that I’ve done the job so well that they want to tell their friends about it – and that makes me feel overjoyed.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
It’s hard to predict real estate – no one saw COVID happening – and you can see how that affected the housing market. It’s been a seller’s market since, and while we saw a slow-down from December 2022-February 2023, inventory was still limited. Without an increase in inventory, I don’t foresee the market leveling out right now, and buyers who purchased with an ultra-low interest rate are not motivated to resell currently.

I do, however, see an increase in inventory starting to happen and have had a gut feeling the tables will flip in the next year or two. It’s important to watch data month over month on sales price, price per sq ft, days on market, closed sales, new listings, and months’ supply to gain an accurate read in real-time.
