Hi Ray, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At the age of 20 years old, I endeavored to make my dream come true and move to the United States. I had lived in Israel my entire life. My parents were both American, but I had never left the country. For so long, I saw Israel and the culture I grew up in as a security blanket. After enduring a difficult upbringing, I finally came to the conclusion I had nothing to lose in chasing my dreams. My hasty decision to leave led to me to move across the country over the next several years as I tried to find myself. I worked in many different fields, from skincare, construction, sales, and finance. However, I never felt I truly found my calling until I started working as a locksmith. This career field allowed me to implement my pursuits around helping people in need, promoting positive customer service, and utilizing problem-solving. I ultimately realized the field of locksmith and security would allow me to grow these passions. In 2021 I opened Lock and Pop Inc- Locksmith and Security. Over the last 2 years, my partner and I have grown the business and proudly serve the DFW area. We have grown the business from a dream to a foundational company that provides honest service to my adopted community.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I first moved from Israel to the United States, I struggled to learn the culture and language. I first moved into a 4-bedroom home that was occupied by 6 other recent immigrants. My lack of experience, income, and connections caused me to have to take the only accommodations that were available- the walk-in closet. I lived in that closet for several months until a friend offered me a job in Virginia Beach, where I lived for another several months where I worked in a mall attempting and failing to sell cosmetics. Next, I moved in with a family member in New York City who got me a job in construction. The labor was backbreaking as I worked over 12 hours each day- but it taught me something. The job taught me what it means to sacrifice for a dream. I learned that reaching my true potential would not be as easy I thought. I learned the value in hard work and striving for quality. With this in mind, I moved to the DFW area to pursue a career in the locksmith and security industry.
