Today we’d like to introduce you to Raen Ochoa.
Hi Raen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been obsessed with skincare and body care and how each ingredient benefits your skin. I do extensive research on products before I buy anything. When looking up ingredients, I developed an understanding of how certain products work together and how products can be made, so I started making body care products. I researched benefits of certain oil and butters, how they affect and feel on the skin, and watched many videos and read articles of how to create a body butter. So, after much work, I started Raeny Day Beauty in 2021. It’s been a dream come true ever since. I’ve been going to school at UNT for a BS in biochemistry, and a lot of what has been taught in my classes has given me a much better understanding of ingredients on a cellular level.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting Raeny Day Beauty has had a lot of ups and downs, but a lot of it is due to be having a lot on my plate. Probably one of my biggest challenges is trying to juggle running Raeny Day Beauty and being a full-time student at UNT pursuing a BS in biochemistry. I’m hoping to graduate here in May! Fingers crossed! The school takes up most of my time, not only just classes but studying for exams and working in a research lab too. Researching ingredients and trying to formulate products also takes up a lot of time. It can sometimes take weeks or months to produce a products and it can be very discouraging sometimes since people are always asking for new scents and new products.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Raeny Day Beauty is known for being a natural, vegan, and cruelty-free skincare and body care brand. We carry body butter, foaming body scrubs, and body washes. I personally formulate every product to help you have and maintain healthy and glowing skin. Right now, we are most know for our natural body butter that has cocoa and shea butter; it’s perfect for all skin types from dry to oily. I think the main thing that sets us apart from other skincare and body care brands is that I’m in school for biochemistry. My education has helped me understand ingredients on a deeper and more cellular level. College has also given me a better grasp on formulating products and how certain ingredients will react with one another.
I’m honestly most proud of just setting out and accomplishing my dream of owing Raeny Day Beauty. Raeny Day Beauty will be 2 in May, and its crazy to look back at everything and see how far we have come.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
When Covid -19 hit, I was in my senior of high school, and it’s hard realizing I never got a true senior year experience. We did not have the opportunity to say goodbye to anyone, have a prom, and our graduation walk was thrown together last minute. Thankfully during that time, I was able to spend it at home with my family, and I realized how much they really mean to me. I think covid-19 made me into an ever-bigger family person than I was before. Covid-19 has allowed me to treasure every moment I have with my family and friends.
