Hi Yanlin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up, I never felt pretty. Until I met a friend who was in love with all jewelries. She got me addicted to wearing jewelries every day, and I noticed that even a small piece of jewelry can make me feel different and beautiful. And that’s where everything started: creating jewelries. It’s been a long but interesting road. But I am so grateful for everyone I’ve met during this long road. I’ve made great artist friends and met so many precious people.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a super smooth road. There were ups and downs, but I don’t think it was ever a difficult road. I’ve had help along the way from my artist friends and family members. I would say, to me, the struggle is when I am doubting myself because people are not interested in my creations at markets. In my mind, I know that markets are like that; there’s always up and down. But still, I can’t stop feeling like “I am not good enough,” which is something I’ve struggled with since I was little. However, I have so many great people around me that would remind me of how great I am, and to those people, “THANK YOU!”

That Girl Who Makes Jewelry Creation specialize in making jewelries (surprise surprise! Lol). My goal is to make people who wear my jewelries feel like they are the baddest bi**ch ever! I try to make my design unique and always on the haunt for special charms and parts to create my jewelries!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the most about Denton is the artist community. We have a very tight community up here. Everyone is super friendly and is always ready to jump in if anyone is ever in need of anything.
When talking about Denton, most people would think about it being the college town. But we have so much more to offer than that! There are many venues here in Denton that you can go and enjoy a great show at. We have many activities on the square every week, and we have several food spots that are must-visits!
