Exploring Life & Business with Daniel Broome of Bonsai Laser Tattoo Removal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Broome.

Hi Daniel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small town in Arizona, where not many opportunities exist. One of the questions we get asked as kids is “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  A lot of kids knew they wanted to be a fireman, doctor, teacher, etc. I remember thinking “I want to do a little of everything”

Although it’s debatable that I’m grown up now, I’ve certainly done many things professionally. I started working for my dad in his machine shop and auto parts store when I was 13, became a US Paratrooper at 17, worked as a blackjack dealer, then casino in management through my late 20’s. When I moved to Texas in 2006, there were no jobs that needed the skills of an Infantryman with casino operations experience. So I became a mailman. Then a car salesman eventually promoted to finance manager at the dealership I was working at. In 2009 when everyone stopped buying cars, I built and led sales teams for some of the largest corporations in the country after that. During this time I started investing in real estate, left the corporate world eventually and developed my own line of guitar tuners, straps and effects pedals under the name Bonsai Music Supply Co, working with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Although I still do the real estate investing and help professional musicians white label music gear, a few years ago I started getting some tattoos removed that I hastily got back when I was drunk and 17. As a teenager working in one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, I never really expected that I’d live to be 44, so the tattoos didn’t seem like much of a commitment at the time. But there I was, with these teenage tattoos on a body that had become a completely different person. Once I realized how effective and safe the laser technology was, I became fascinated by it.

We all have this idea in our heads that tattoos are permanent and that we’re stuck with them forever. The gratification I received from not having “art” on my body that no longer represented who I am today, I thought, “What a great and unique way to help improve other people’s lives, meet interesting people, and potentially profit at the same time.”

I’m having a lot of fun with it. Being a positive influence in people’s lives has always been something I’ve strived to do, and I feel like this is a service that gives me an opportunity to do that

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Obstacles are everywhere, all the time, regardless of the pursuit. But finding ways to navigate those obstacles is what matters. And once we come out on the other side of them, it helps forge us into the person that’s ready to receive the reward on the other side.

One of my favorite quotes has always been, “You must be willing to look foolish in order to achieve greatness,” And although I’m not claiming I’ll ever achieve greatness, I’ve certainly looked foolish plenty of times. But that’s given me the the opportunity to pursue many of my goals, own my own time, provide for my family, among many other things

Where a lot of people get stuck I think is being faced with an obstacle and then saying to themselves “Ah there it is…I knew this was a bad idea”, and then giving up. But if we look at the obstacles as an opportunity to get better, instead of a reason to quit, that’s when we experience growth and progress.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t take advice from people that haven’t accomplished what you strive to accomplish. If you believe in the idea, and aren’t afraid to put in the work- do it.  You’ve only failed once you give up.

Things will definitely not always go the way you envisioned or hoped, but if you stay flexible, and adapt as you gain more knowledge/ information about what works/ doesn’t work, you’ll succeed. You’ve only failed once you quit.

The one thing that we all have control over is how much effort we put in.

Put your clients first. They are what keeps your business running.  If you do the things that ensure you’re taking good care of them, and have an effective way to get the word out about your product/ service, everything else takes care of itself.
