I’m a software engineer by profession, a singer by hobby, and a mom of a 10-month-old baby girl. The creative side of me always dreamt of doing something apart from doing a routine job. Being far away from my native place, I always miss the country’s arts, traditions, celebrations, and culture. And after some ground research, I found that there are a lot of other people who feel the same as me. That’s when this idea of thepinkandlavender struck me. I wanted to make the native handicrafts, decor-related products, traditional pieces, cultural artifacts, and women accessories available to people here in united states.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running an online business is not an easy job to accomplish. As always, every business will have its share of difficulties, especially in the initial stages. Establishing a market presence through Instagram ads or Facebook ads has become a costly affair for a small business. Shipping and handling costs across the globe have increased by 25% after covid, which has been challenging to deal with. Wide variety of selling platforms has increased the competition in the marketplace.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Dream big, do your research on supply and demand, know your competitors, plan for finances, have a roadmap of where you want to be, how you want to stand out, and last but not least, be proactive and work hard for your goals.
