Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Brandy Simmons.
Hi Dr. Simmons, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I experienced discomfort in my hips, and someone recommended that I try prenatal chiropractic care. I had never heard of it before, but I knew that there had to be something to help besides pain relievers. Once I experienced chiropractic, I knew that I needed to be a part helping other pregnant mothers find this alternative to healthcare. Once I started my journey in chiropractic school, I learned so much more about the gap between traditional maternal healthcare and the care that they actually need and deserve. In addition to helping mothers, I found a passion for helping children with chiropractic care. Seeing my own children grow up under chiropractic care and all the benefits that they gained was exactly the kind of benefits I wanted other families to experience with their children. From there, I have been curating community-based model for healthcare in our office. Bringing together chiropractic care and other natural therapies based around women, maternal care, and children. Being able to provide a space where they can learn about how important preventative care is and that there are other options to traditional medicine.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey as a business owner has definitely not been as smooth as I was expecting, and I always tell people that being a chiropractor is actually the easy part! It’s stepping into the role of owning a business as a mother and a spouse that is challenging. When I decided to open my own practice after school, I found out I was pregnant a month before I opened my doors. Somehow with the help of my family and amazing business mentors, I made it through that first year. Knowing that I was bringing a new addition to our family drove me keep going even when times got tough. Being a mompreneur is full of struggles and lessons but full of much more rewarding moments.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
