Today we’d like to introduce you to Randall Kennedy.
Randall, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a youngster I was always interested in nature and wildlife. I’ve always found a real liking to the outdoors. I started working with animals at a boarding kennel when I was 13. A few years later I decided to flip through the phonebook to see if anything would interest me as a career. I seen an ad for nuisance wildlife control. It had catchy pictures of snakes, bats, and bees. I was very interested. I called the company to ask if they were hiring. The receptionist said “as of five minutes ago yes we are.” I told her I can start right now for a low pay if they could teach me. She agreed and I started that day. It wasn’t exactly what I expected. I thought we were going to be driving around catching animals. We did set some traps and picked up some animals in traps. Mainly we were working on houses to keep the animals out. We were also doing some attic decontamination and sterilization. It is very hard work. Lots of bear crawling through hot attic‘s for extended hours. I didn’t agree with some of the traps we were using as well as how the animals were treated which eventually led to me starting up on my own. I had an idea that all these animals could be live trapped and humanely relocated. I was right. It can be done, and that is what we do. We treat nuisance wildlife humanely while still protecting the home as a priority. I have been doing this for about 20 years now. I’m the most experienced wildlife specialist in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been easy. There has been many obstacles along the way. Wild animals are smarter than we give them credit for. They are always changing their habits and they can be very determined to reach their goals. Customers are not always understanding either. A lot of them think that just because we care about the animals that we should be doing this for free. They don’t understand that we have to feed our families and pay our bills.
Please tell us about DFW Wildlife.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think I would’ve done anything differently. All of our mistakes have turned out to be very valuable lessons.
