Daily Inspiration: Meet Samantha-Ann Comeau

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha-Ann Comeau.

Hi Samantha-Ann, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been involved with something creative as far back as I can remember. I drew like every kid did. Then came musical theatre, choir, and band. Following that, I fell in love with photography. Next was body Body painting, that had a solid hold on me for literal years. I always circle back around to previous art forms but am eager to learn even more. Now I’m on the hardest creative journey yet: becoming a tattoo artist.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing about life is a smooth road. The hardest part is the self-doubt and inevitable financial struggles along the way. I can’t even count in how many ways I have held myself back. I had to literally move to another country to finally start finding my path and chance at a successful or at least fulfilling life creatively. I don’t expect the road ahead to be smooth either. Life is all about the journey. The negatives are needed to truly appreciate the positives.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I don’t necessarily have a specialty. I love skulls, flowers, bugs, and a dash of anything geeky. Aesthetically I’m like a corpse coated in glitter. I love a hood mixed of vivid colorful beauty amongst the macabre. I’m most proud of my progress in my apprenticeship. I may not be tattooing quite yet, but this journey has been the most fulfilling.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I always have about 3 types of media I consume. I have to have a short, f funny, and somewhat predictable series to help distract me. I need something that is aesthetically beautiful in the fantasy/sci-fi realm to inspire my mind. And some kind of true crime or crime-based show. Right now, I’ve been watching Castle, mostly truthfully. Oooooh, and the friendship onion podcast.
