Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammy Jo Allen.
Hi Sammy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My journey started at age 4 when I gained my first experience in competitive sports. Not yet in Kindergarten, I joined a local coach pitch league that was made up of mostly all boys (only one other girl and myself), where I competed against other local and neighboring coach pitch baseball teams. My success in these early childhood sport experiences served as the first building blocks for creating a self-concept and sense of confidence in my ability to compete with others. Today, I believe it was my combined dedication to athletics, academics, and my experience of working diligently on my family’s farm that helped develop the basic skills necessary to successfully operate my business and to offer my very best at serving my clients and family of 6 each day. As far as offering up actual credit in how I’ve gotten where I am, that goes to God, my parents, mentors along the way (including my older brother), and my family who have all created opportunities and support me still today.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My greatest struggle came in deciding whether to start my own business, work under a larger group practice, or go into a different profession entirely upon graduating with my master’s. I ended up doing a blend of the first two, and while it took some time to establish myself as a trusted provider despite my age and growing experience upon first entering the profession, I’m proud to say I made a choice that seems to suit me quite well today. I feel that I am in the best profession to suit my core personality traits and my desire to serve others in a deep and personal way.
As you know, we’re big fans of North Texas Couple and Family Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
North Texas Couple and Family Therapy (NTXCFT) provides counseling services to adults, adolescents, and their families. NTXCFT specializes in couples counseling by helping to repair trust and emotional hurts from infidelity, addiction, or other ongoing challenges in the relationship. Sammy maintains a small practice where she can have a close relationship with her clients and any support staff, such as contract therapists or student interns on her team.

I love the residents of Dallas, all of our sports teams, and accessibility to great food and entertainment! I like least that I have to share the road and waitstaff with so many people at once.
