Meet Ayman Baro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayman Baro.

Hi Ayman, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My mother started cooking our food back in 2008 when we immigrated from Iraq to America; we found that long-time immigrants who have been living in the States did not have an authentic homecooked traditional dishes in the area; we have been cooking Iraqi food for over 15 years now, although it started just for close friends and family. We have decided to infuse Texas and Iraq and see where we get; that decision did not disappoint as the flavors came together perfectly. I myself was the one who started this journey of taking homecooked Iraqi food and brought it the Texas flavors and cooking style. I have had over 18 jobs since I was 16, and now, I am a truck driver, but my passion is food; I started experimenting with food at the age of 21 and, together with my mother, have well mastered the flavors. We hope in feeding as many people as we can our delicious food, whether it be through catering or a future restaurant in the area.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a struggle to expand as we all have full-time jobs, and doing this as a side hustle, we are slowly building our foundation so that we tackle challenges as they arise one by one.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My mother (Marlien Gorial) currently works as a chef at a local country club in the Dallas Area. I am a truck driver of 4 years now, and I have worked multiple jobs before trucking, including food trucks. We are known for our oven-roasted Lamb, it is out of this world, and since we have infused Texas and Iraq spices it’s been the best we have ever had. We are working on getting it in the smoker and see how that turns out, and I am sure it won’t disappoint.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in a warzone, so we had to adapt quickly, I am very outgoing I love meeting new people and sharing stories and culture. Always had an interest in our military, law enforcement, and fire rescue. I joined a police cadet program for about 3.5 years learned many things from a lot of different people and backgrounds. I love cooking for people that’s my passion, whether it is an event, friends gathering, or just dinner for my family.
