Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Karas.
Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am originally from Washington State. I moved to Texas for college and have lived here ever since. When I was in college, I had custody of my niece and nephew. I was raising them, working and in school. It’s safe to say I was busy. I ended up gaining weight. Six years ago, I lost 65 pounds. I have kept all that weight off since then. I am a dog mom to two dogs. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family, travel, and find extra plants to bring home. Even though I’ve been in Texas for about six years, I still am a Seahawks fan. I am a big Taylor Swift fan. I enjoy going to concerts, binge-watching shows, and eating spicy foods.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. When I gained all my weight, I was in my early 20s. I remember the moment that I knew I needed to create a change. I was walking up the stairs in my home, and my knees hurt after just a couple steps. I knew that I shouldn’t feel that way. My body was taking a toll from having excess weight. I knew that in order to live a healthy life, I would need to make a lifestyle change. I watched my grandpa battle diabetes. Diabetes took my grandpa from me slowly, then all at once. I watched his life change drastically due to his health. I lost my grandpa in 2022. I knew that I wanted to help others have sustainable, healthy lifestyles and so I created The Meal Prep Queen. Since starting it, I have had trouble getting the word out there about what I do and how beneficial it can be. I am currently working and in school full-time. My journey has not been a smooth road, but I have been able to maintain my weight loss and lifestyle in the midst of it all. I want to help others do the same.
We’ve been impressed with The Meal Prep Queen, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I offer meal preps. I offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I have two options for ordering. Customers can either build their own meals, or they can chose meals from my weekly meals. My weekly meals change each week. I also offer protein balls and snack boxes. The snack boxes are completely customizable. Having your meals prepped helps simplify a healthy lifestyle. For my customers, they do not have to meal plan, grocery shop, cook, or clean the kitchen. They simply order and then pick up their meals for the week. Everything is done for them. This helps make healthy eating easier because it is already done for you. All you have to do is heat and eat. It is especially beneficial for those with a busy schedule, people who run out of meal ideas or people who are trying to stay consistent. You can choose how many meals you order and what type of meals you want. Some people just want their lunch time covered so they order 5 lunch meals. Other people don’t want to worry about food at all and order all their meals for the week. Either way works. There is no minimum order amount.
If the customer tracks calories or macros, I am able to provide that information for every meal they order. This makes tracking your food simple.
I also offer coaching for nutrition, fitness, or both. The plans are completely customized to the customers’ goals and are updated as the customer progresses towards that goal. The nutrition coaching includes macros and calorie counts for the customer to reach each day. The customer will be provided information on how to track macros and meal plans. There will be check-ins each week, and the plan will be updated as needed. If the customer doesn’t want to count macros, we will create a meal plan that is sustainable and still gets them towards their goal. Fitness coaching can be used for home or gym workouts. A plan will be created given the number of days that the customer will be working out. The fitness coaching will have weekly check-ins, too to see how the customer is progressing. The plan will be updated as needed. Coaching can be used for weight loss, building muscle, maintaining, or just for overall health. It is really tailored to the customer, their goals, and preferences.
I have a referral program. Every time a customer refers a new customer to me, the referring customer will receive a free meal of their choice or 8 free protein balls.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is living a healthy lifestyle and helping others do the same. Too often, people try to lose weight in a way that isn’t sustainable. They end up gaining the weight back. I help people create change that is lasting. I aim to help others achieve and maintain their goals. I believe it is important to live a healthy lifestyle yet still enjoy foods you love. I believe that you don’t have to cut out food. It is all about moderation. My goal in life is to help people. I hope to continue to do that through my meal preps.
