Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Scoggan.
Hi Veronica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved fashion, art, and all things creative. Growing up, I aspired to have a job where I could express myself, leading me to pursue a career as a hairstylist. I attended Toni and Guy Academy in Plano and fell in love with doing hair. After graduating from hair school in February 2020, I worked at Indigo Child Salon for two and a half years before going independent.
I believe it’s essential to keep up with new techniques in color, cut, and extensions as the beauty industry is constantly evolving. I prioritize continuing education and have taken many color, extension, and cutting courses to refine my skills and learn new techniques throughout my career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started as an assistant in February 2020, and the salon where I worked shut down soon after due to covid. It was a setback in my career, but it forced me to reach out to potential clients in different ways to promote myself and get people in my chair. I am very introverted, so I have had to stretch myself, but ultimately the connections I’ve made with my guests have become one of the best parts of my job.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently located in a modern industrial salon located inside the historic Southside on Lamar building called Painted Hair Society. I offer luxury personalized services, including highlights, balayage, and extensions. I aim to help my guests achieve their hair goals and leave my chair feeling confident and beautiful. It’s so rewarding to help someone feel good about themselves.
What’s next?
As I continue to grow, I’m working on building a solid business foundation and customizing my brand. I am excited to advance my career by learning new techniques and growing my social media platform. I aim to master my craft and develop new methods in the industry. I would love to eventually offer classes and share the knowledge I’ve gained with other stylists.
